Assassin’s Creed Mirage is a well-optimized game on PC which has become quite rare in recent years. The game runs pretty smooth on a range of PC configurations, however, PC players are experiencing crashes and minor stuttering issues that ruin the experience. In this Assassin’s Creed Mirage guide, I will list fixes that will help PC users fix the stuttering in gameplay.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage Stuttering Fixes You Can Try
As I mentioned above, AC Mirage runs pretty well on a range of PC configurations. I was able to run the game at 80 – 100 FPS at ULTRA settings with DLSS on an RTX 3060. I personally faced the stuttering in AC Mirage and was able to fix it. There are multiple reasons why the game is stuttering like unlocked FPS and more. The following are the fixes that will help PC users fix AC Mirage stuttering.
Limit Max Frame Rate
I was able to run AC Mirage on an RTX 3060 at Ultra settings with DLSS at 80 – 100 FPS. However, I also experienced stuttering in gameplay even with Gsync enabled. I was able to fix the AC Mirage stuttering by limiting the max FPS to 60. For some reason, AC Mirage stutters when played at an unlocked FPS, and capping it fixes the stutters.
You can limit the frame rate through the in-game graphics menu or through the Nvidia Control Panel. However, I don’t encourage you to use the in-game FPS limiter if you don’t have a Gsync or Feesync display. The in-game FPS limiter is not perfect and causes slight jittering at every screen refresh as it always renders one extra frame than your FPS limit. Meaning if you cap AC Mirage to 60 FPS, it’ll render the game at 61 FPS. The same behavior I noticed in AC Valhalla and Ubisoft hasn’t fixed it.
This leaves you with only using the Nvidia Control Panel FPS limiter. Open Nvidia Control Panel > manage 3D Settings > Program Settings > select AC Mirage from the drop-down menu > Scroll down and enable Max Frame Rate > select a value for it and press OK. Play AC Mirage and the stuttering is now fixed.
Note: Unless you are using a Freesync or G.sync display, your Max Frame Limit should be 1/2, 1/3rd, or 1/4th of your monitor’s refresh rate. Otherwise, the game will feel jittery.
Set Game Proirity To High
If limiting the game’s FPS isn’t an option for you, then you set AC Mirage to high priority through the task manager and it’ll fix in-game stuttering. Apparently, AC Mirage’s CPU usage is not optimal at unlocked FPS which results in stuttering while playing. Giving the game High or real-time priority through Task Manger fixes the CPU usage which then fixes the in-game stutters.
- Launch Assassin’s Creed Mirage
- Minimize the game and open Task Manager
- Open the Details tab
- Right-click ACMirage.exe > Set priority > select High or Realtime
- Play Assassin’s Creed Mirage and the in-game stuttering is now fixed
Note: You’ll have to set the game’s priority to High or Realtime every time you launch the game.
Nvidia Control Panel Tweaks
There are some Nvidia Control Panel tweaks that will also help you fix stuttering in Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings > select AC Mirage from the drop-down menu and make the following changes.
- Anti-aliasing-Gamma Correction – Off
- Antialiasing Mode – Application Controlled
- Antialiasing Transparency – Off
- CUDA GPUs – All
- Low Latency Mode – Off
- Power Management – Prefer Maximum Performance
- Texture filtering – Quality – High Performance
- Threaded Optimization – On
- Triple Buffering – Off
- Vertical Sync – Use the 3D application setting
