Fire Elementals are some of the most formidable monsters in the game, known for their incredible strength and aggression. The game’s Beastiry tells us that these creatures were first created by the sorcerer Ransant Alvaro. And since then, they have made life difficult for Geralt and the other Witchers. ‘Elementa’ can take different shapes and forms, such as:

  • Djinn
  • Earth/Fire/Ice Elementals
  • Golems
  • Gargoyles
  • Pixies and much more

This guide will discuss everything you need to find and kill fire elementals in The Witcher 3.

How to Kill Fire Elementals

When hunting Fire Elementals, it’s important to have a strong weapon. I recommend using a silver sword and ensuring it’s in good condition, as it can lose durability quickly when fighting these creatures. Also, it’s essential to keep a safe distance from them. The closer you get to the Elemental, the more quickly Geralt will lose health due to fire damage. Only get close to strike when you have an opening, and retreat immediately afterward to maintain a safe distance. When you are a reasonable distance away from Fire Elementals, they can send fireballs or a stream of flames your way, but quick reactions and timely dodges to the sides should make it easy to deal with them.

Best Sign Against Fire Elemental

Avoid using the Igni sign or any bombs with fire damage on Fire Elementals. This may seem obvious, but it’s a standard mistake players make when fighting Fire Elementals. Using fire-based attacks will only make them stronger. Instead, use the Aard sign to extinguish the flames and get close enough to strike with your silver sword. If your Aard sign is powerful enough, it can also freeze the Fire Elemental for a short period.

What Bombs to Use

Using Northern Wind Bomb is a great option. It acts like a powerful Aard spell and freezes Fire Elementals. While the monster is frozen, you can land a few hits quickly. The higher the level of bomb you have, the more time you will have to deal damage to the Fire Elemental.

What Oils to Use

Elementa Oil can provide a substantial buff to the attack power of your sword. Depending on the oil level you have unlocked, your sword can have anywhere from 10 percent to a 50 percent addition to its attack power. Using heavy attacks at the right openings is a quick and easy method of taking down Fire Elementals.

Where to Find Fire Elementals

There are plenty of quests that will put you up against an Elemental in Witcher 3, and you will have to face Fire Elementals in at least 3 quests :

  • Blindingly Obvious
  • Redania’s Most Wanted
  • The Witchers’ Forge

Other than quests, you can sometimes run into a Fire Elemental while exploring. They are primarily found in ruins, and the probability increases if the ruin has some magic in its history.
