Scratch is the final boss you will come across in Alan Wake 2. However, unlike other bosses in the game whom you just shoot a few times and call it a day, Scratch is a bit confusing since your weapons seem to do nothing to him. Just like any other boss in the game, prep. is extremely important. You need to enter the fight with your best weapon, all the necessary upgrades, and plenty of ammo. Your choice of weapon hardly matters here as you should be able to make anything work if you are careful enough, but we do recommend a Shotgun to make things easier.
In the beginning, it may appear that your weapon does not do anything to Scratch. This is completely false. You essentially need your weapon to stun him for a while. Whenever he is stunned, he will let our a loud scream.
At this point, you need to rush to one of the red boxes in the area — hold the interact button to turn it on. You will be able to activate one box before Scratch gets back up. There is no point in trying to activate additional boxes since you will not be able to do so. Therefore, do the same thing once more i.e. shoot him a few times to stun him, activate one of the boxes, and repeat until all three boxes have been activated. Once you have activated all the boxes, you will get a small cutscene marking the end of the fight.
You should also note that Scratch is able to get in range fairly easily. Even if you believe you are at a safe distance, be mindful of how easily he can catch up. Learning how to dodge, using your weapon to stun him, and using that window to activate the cubes are the main things you need to keep in mind throughout this fight.
