The world of Valheim is brutal in every way possible. Enemies lurk in the dark and the environment can be harsh in all ways. To counteract that, players need to ensure that they’ve got their own Shelter. But how does one do that?! In this guide, we’ve detailed everything there’s to know about how to build a Shelter in Valheim.
How to Build a Shelter in Valheim
To start building the Shelter, the first thing that the players will need is the trusty Hammer. For players who have yet to craft the Hammer, it can be done by combining 2x Stones and 3x Wood. Once the Hammer is acquired, the players will need to acquire Wood – a total of 20x Wood is needed to build the Shelter.
Once all the materials are acquired, the players will need to open up the Crafting Menu to start building the Shelter. However, do note that this will be without any walls or roof which need to be added separately. To do so, players will need to select Thatched Roof and Wood Walls. After selecting everything, place them in any way you want.
Another important thing that players need to keep in mind is to build the Shelter with a bed as it’ll allow them to respawn after they die. In addition to this, the bed also allows players to save at any point. Players should also be wary of luring the Mythical Beasts near the Shelter as they can damage it. Small enemies, however, aren’t able to do a whole lot of damage and generally harmless.
Lastly, players who want to rely on a fireplace to keep the Shelter warm in the winters should ensure that the fireplace has a chimney attached to it so as to prevent the smoke from accumulating in the Shelter and damaging the players. By keeping these little tips in mind, players should’ve absolutely no issues when it comes to building their own Shelter in Valheim.
