To get the Halloween spirit flowing, Nintendo released a new update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons which introduced many spooky Halloween items. One of these items is the good old Pumpkin. In this guide, we’ll explain everything you need to know about Pumpkins and how to grow them in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
How to Grow Pumpkins in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
With the new update, players can now plant and harvest Pumpkins for their Halloween preparations. To plant Pumpkins, you’ll need Pumpkin Starts which you can buy from both Nook’s Cranny and Leif.
However, Nook’s Cranny sells them for 280 Bells each and Leif sells them for 140 Bells each. Therefore, we recommend buying them from Leif if you’re short on Bells.
How to Grow Pumpkins
Once you’ve bought Pumpkin Starts, you can plant them in an open area around your island. Once planted, these pumpkin starts will usually take 3-4 days to grow and you’ll be able to harvest them.
After harvesting, leave the Pumpkin Starts planted as they’ll regrow within 2 days if you water them. Also, their yield depends on the number of times you water them.
For example, if you don’t water the Starts, they’ll yield only one Pumpkin and if you water them 2 times, they’ll yield 3 Pumpkins. Grow and collect as many as you can for the upcoming Halloween event.
Pumpkin Colours
Currently, pumpkins grow in four different colours in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Also, the pumpkin colour is completely random and you’ll only know the colour once the pumpkin is fully grown. The four colours are Orange, Green, Yellow, White.
