Ghosts are easily the most formidable enemies in Spelunky 2. Their one-shot potential combined with the fact that they’ve nigh-infinite HP (999) makes it very hard to deal with them in a straight-up confrontation. In this Spelunky 2 guide, we’ve detailed everything you need to know about how to effectively get rid of ghosts in the game.
How to Get Rid of Ghosts in Spelunky 2
Firstly, let’s discuss how a ghost appears on a level. There are essentially a couple of ways to do so:
- The first way is to spend more than 180 seconds on a level.
- The second way is to break the ghost jar that’s available on every level.
The ghost will always appear off-screen and start to chase you around. Once that happens, you’ll be left with 2 choices i.e. either ‘try’ to kill the ghost or make a run for it. While one is exponentially easier than the other, let’s talk about both of them.
When it comes to attempting to kill the ghost, let me give you a little advice: don’t. We’ve yet to come across someone who has done so successfully in Spelunky 2. Considering the fact that the ghost can basically kill you by touching and you’ll need to constantly damage it since it’s HP pool is immense, to say the least.
In our opinion, a much better option is to make a run for it. Since there isn’t any point in trying to fight it out, you should always try to make a run for it. With a compass in hand, you should easily be able to make it to the exit. After you successfully make it to the exit, the ghost will leave. Again, what you decide to end up doing is completely your call. We’re simply recommending what’s easier to do.
