Everyone needs Bells, lots of Bells in, in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Be it for different projects or buying things you want, you need to have money to breeze through your in-game journey. In this Animal Crossing: New Horizons guide, we’ll go over some tips and tricks to help you make more money.
How to Make Money in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Most of the money farming methods in New Horizons carry over from New Leaf with a few changes. We’ll continue to update the guide with more tips in the coming days so be sure to check back.
Break Bell Rocks
Money Rocks or Bell Rocks, as seen in previous Animal Crossing games, are also a part of New Horizons. Each day, any random rock in your town will turn into a Money Rock, allowing you to get Bells from it by simply hitting it with a Shovel.
A single Money Rock can drop up to 16,100 Bells. However, it largely depends on the number of blows you can deal with your Shovel before the rock breaks.
To make the most Bells out of a Money Rock, you need to hit it with a Shovel as many times as you possibly can. And no, a Money Rock doesn’t break after a specific number of blows.
Instead, what it does is that it knocks you back a little every time you land a successful blow, forcing you to walk up to it again for the next hit.
To increase your chances of getting in maximum blows before a rock breaks, you should consider creating some holes or bushes behind you, which should reduce the knockback distance.
A Money Rock isn’t the only type of rock that will make you money in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Offtimes, you’ll randomly bump into rocks, which when broken, will drop precious gems worth thousands of Bells.
There are a few types of gems that you’ll find in the game, with each having a different monetary value. The following is a list of gems and their monetary value:
- Gold: 4,000 Bells
- Silver: 3,000 Bells
- Ruby: 2,000 Bells
- Emerald: 2,000 Bells
- Amethyst: 2,000 Bells
- Sapphire: 2,000 Bells
These are some of the ways you can use to farm Bells in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. For more on the game, be sure to check out our New Horizons guides page.
