Could Not Communicate With Your Google Home Mini Error Fix
If you have a Google Home Mini or Nest Mini gen 2 then all you need to do is reset the device. You can check if you have the 1st generation or gen 2 by looking under the device. The Google Home Mini gen 2 has a hole under it that can be used for mounting it on a wall. The gen 1 does not have that.
Now that you know which generation of the Google Home Mini you have, you can proceed to reset your device.
How To Reset 1st Generation Device?
If you have the older model then all you need to do is press the small button on the bottom for 5 seconds. This is going to reset the device. You will know that you have the older model by looking at the bottom. It will not have a wall mounting hole.
How To Reset Google Home Mini (Nest Mini) Gen 2?
First, mute the microphone by using the button on the side. As you mute the microphone you will see Orange next to the microphone button. If the Google Home Mini is connected then the lights will turn orange and the assistant will tell you that the microphone is off.
While the microphone is muted you need to press the top of the device in the middle. Do this for around 15 seconds and you will get an audio prompt indicating that the device has been reset.
This is how you can reset the Google Home Mini Gen 2. For good measure, I reinstalled the Google Home app on my phone and started the setup process all over again, and did not get the “could not communicate with your Google Home Mini” error. This is how you can fix the error and set up your device properly.
