As you explore Fire Emblem Engage, you will find that love is all around you and there isn’t any shortage of characters to romance with. It is not the same as marrying someone but more like a close relationship. Since romance is not quite the same as it was in FE: Three Houses, we have compiled a guide on how to romance characters in Fire Emblem Engage.
To begin, you need to increase the Support Bond to rank ‘A’ with an ally. After that, you can give them the Pact Ring to trigger a cutscene where they confess their feelings. This also promotes the Support Bond to the ‘S’ rank.
Not Every Character Can Be Romanced
In the famous words of a great poet of our time, Justin Bieber, the first thing you will need is ‘somebody to love’. Make sure to unlock the maximum amount of characters to maximize your chances.
Not every character can be romanced even if you increase their support level to ‘S’ and the relationship stays at a platonic level. Completing missions, talking to characters, and doing side battles can unlock various characters.
Pact Rings
Paralogues are side missions you can take part in for extra rewards, loot-ables, and items. These might not have any effect on the main story itself but if you are interested in romancing any character then one of these Paralogues becomes essential.
The Connector is a side mission that rewards you with the Pact Ring. This becomes available after completing Chapter 23 in the Garden of Memories.
Pact Ring becomes available at your bedside table in your room at the Somniel. You will not be able to increase the Support Bond from rank ‘A’ to ‘S’ unless you have it.
Support Bond
Fighting, healing, etc. on the battlefield with the character you want to romance will greatly increase the Bond Levels. Furthermore, using skills on the battlefield and doing some chores e.g., polishing Emblem Rings, etc. will also increase the Bond Levels.
Activities
You can buy gifts for your favorite characters or even cook a meal for them. Just make sure to read up on their ‘Likes’ and ‘Dislikes’ to maximize rewards from these activities.
Sparring at the arena also increases the Bond Level but you might end up sparring with someone you do not want, as you cannot choose a partner to fight with. The rewards are not worth the time either.
Rewards
Once you fulfill all the requirements and finally bring a character up to bond level ‘S’, you will unlock a massive boost to their stats. A memento of the character can be found by your bed along with their picture in your ‘Ally Notebook’.
A cutscene is also unlocked where they confess their feelings and a journal entry is written regarding their future with the main character, Alear.
Some characters can have a romantic relationship with Alear while some stay platonic/flirtatious. In either case, you will unlock all the stats, cutscenes, and you do not miss out on any content.
