Cloud’s Buster Sword is probably one of the most iconic weapons in gaming. Originally debuting in Final Fantasy 7, it has made several appearances across different games, the latest being FF16. Here is how you can get the Buster Sword in Final Fantasy 16:
Cloud’s Buster Sword Pre-requisites
It is part of the Echoes of the Fallen DLC. You can purchase it separately or as part of the Final Fantasy 16 Expansion Pass, which includes future DLCs such as The Rising Tide, set to release in Spring 2024. It becomes available after you finish the Prologue.
After you have completed the Prologue, press the ‘Options’ button and navigate to the ‘System’ menu — here, open ‘Redeemable Items’. Once in the ‘Redeemable Items’ menu, select the Buster Sword and press X to redeem it. Alongside the Buster Sword, you can also redeem the Onion Sword and the ‘Away (1987)’ Orchestrion Roll, both included in the Echoes of the Fallen DLC.
To access the Echoes of the Fallen quests, you will need to be at the end-game. This requires unlocking the Origin location on the World Map and completing different side quests like Where There’s a Will and Priceless.
Is it Worth it?
Cloud’s Buster Sword, with a base Attack Power of 400, provides a significant advantage in the early-game of FF16, up until the Garuda Eikon. However, it is less effective for end-game content. It essentially is a nostalgic collectible and an excellent accessory for the Photo Mode. Moreover, it can also be used to Transmog, allowing its appearance to be applied to any other weapon in Final Fantasy 16.
