FIFA 21 PC Optimization – How To Run The Game At 60 FPS

FIFA 21 PC Optimization

FIFA 21 is out now on PC and consoles. If you are having issues running the game at a stable 60 FPS on PC then this FIFA 21 PC optimization guide should help you get to that sweet spot.

FIFA 20 PC Optimization –  How To Get 60 FPS

FIFA 21 PC version doesn’t have an elaborate graphics menu which is very odd for the PC title. There are only four graphical options that PC players can tweak with and even they aren’t very useful except for one.

For this FIFA 21 PC graphics tweaks guide, I am targeting low-range PCs. By low-range I mean a PC with a Core i5 CPU, a GPU less powerful compared to GTX 1060 like GTX 1050 or integrated GPU, and 8 GB of RAM. The reason why I chose a GPU less powerful than GTX 1060 is that while it’s an old GPU but, it still packs a punch and can play a lot of games at 1080P ultra settings like Star Wars Squadrons and FIFA 21 itself.

I also recommend that you have an SSD then, install FIFA 21 there as it’ll not only improve loading times but, will also keep the game from stuttering as it fetches files from storage. The following are the PC tweaks that players can do for FIFA 21 in order to get 1080/60 FPS experience.

Game Settings

There are a couple of settings that you can tweak in the game in order to boost FPS. The following are the settings that we recommend for people that are facing issues hitting 60 FPS at 1080p:

  • Display Mode: Full Screen
  • Rendering Quality: Medium
  • MSAA Options: 2x
  • Frame Rate: 60 FPS

If you are unable to get a smooth experience even at these settings then you can try and play the game at a locked 30 FPS and crank the settings up. However, I don’t recommend that you do it through the game’s menu. Instead, lock the game at 60 FPS from the menu and close the game.

Open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings > select FIFA 21. Turn on “Max FPS Limit” and set the value to 30. This will limit the GPU to only render the game at 30 FPS. The benefit you’ll get is that you’ll be able to play the game at the high settings with a stable FPS and frame time.

If reducing image quality is something that you are willing to do then you can reduce the Rendering Quality and disable MSAA to boost the FPS.

Other Settings And Tweaks For 60 FPS

The following are some other settings and tweaks that you change in order to get better performance in FIFA 21.

Turn Off Game Mode And Game Bar
Turn off the game mode and game bar overlay in the windows settings. Both of these are not worth it for now especially if you have older hardware.

Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling
You can turn this setting on in the graphics settings of windows. Provided that you have updated it to the latest version. This will improve performance in-game. If you have lower-end hardware or a laptop then you will notice a boost in FPS.

To enable Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling, open Settings > System > Display > click Graphics Settings at the bottom and enable Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling.

Update Drivers And Windows
Make sure that your graphics drivers and Windows are running on the latest version available in order to ensure proper graphics optimization and the best performance.

Nvidia Control Panel Settings
There are a couple of settings that you can change in the Nvidia Control Panel. Open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings > select FIFA 21. Use the following optimization for FIFA 21:

  • Maximum pre-rendered frames: 1
  • Power Management Mode: Prefer maximum performance
  • Threaded optimization: On
  • Texture filtering – Quality: High Performance
  • Vertical Sync: On

I recommend that you disable in-game v.sync and force it through the GPU driver. However, the game doesn’t give the option to disable v.sync, so you’ll have to make do with what you have. In my experience, I have found that sometimes in-game v.sync a cause the game to stutter.

Close Background Programs
Before running the game be sure that there are no unnecessary programs running in the background that could use up the resources of your PC.
