Far Cry 6 is out now and freeing Yara is not going to be easy. Fortunately, there are some things that you can do in order to make things a bit easier. In this Far Cry 6 beginner’s guide, we are going to give you some tips and tricks that you should keep in mind.
Far Cry 6 Tips And Tricks
The following are the tips and tricks that you should keep in mind when playing Far Cry 6:
Use Your PhoneCamera To Mark Enemies, Cameras, And Alarms
Early on in the game, you will get a phone. While it can be used to look up photos, you can also use it in combat to mark enemies, cameras, and alarms. This will make it easier to take out threats behind enemy lines. The camera also reveals enemy weaknesses to help you take them out.
You will find items that you can pick up in the open world and in enemy bases. Pick these up as you are going to need them in one form or another. You will need medicine to upgrade your base and you will need other resources such as gun powder to mod your weapons. Loot everything that you see so that you are not low on resources when you need them the most.
Disable Alarms To Avoid Further Trouble
When entering an enemy checkpoint or camp, you should scan the area and look for alarms. Disable the alarms otherwise, you will have to deal with enemy reinforcements which can be a pain to deal with. You can shoot the alarm with a silenced weapon or get close to the alarm and disable it. Some alarms are bulletproof and you cannot shoot them in order to disable them. Disabling the alarm will make things much easier.
Unlock Fast Travel Points
Exploring the vast open-world is cool but moving from one place to another can take a lot of time. That is where fast travel comes in. Any base or checkpoint that you liberate is going to become a fast travel point. Other areas and hideouts that you discover will also become fast travel points. So be sure to explore the world and take over enemy bases in order to traverse the map much faster.
Follow The Orange Smoke
From time to time, enemies are going to drop supplies. These will be marked by orange smoke. Follow the orange smoke and beat the enemies at supply drop to get rare resources that you are going to need to craft mods and other items that will help you in Far Cry 6.
You Can Power Slide Down Hills
While running, you can press the crouch button in order to do a slide. You can do this to traverse down hills much faster. This is safer than jumping and faster than walking and a lot of fun to do.
Getting Gun Powder And Other Rare Resources
You are going to need rare resources such as Gun Powder in order to upgrade your gear and settlement. You can get Gun Powder by clearing enemy settlements, camps, and check posts. Once you do that get the keycard from the enemy that is in charge of the base. You can then access the bunker or stash and get Gun Powder and other rare resources.
You can also get these resources from airdrops. You can also hunt animals in the wild and then exchange their hides and meat for resources.
Remember To Destroy The FND Billboards
In order to take over an enemy base or checkpoint, not only do you need to defeat the enemies that occupy it but you also need to destroy the FND propaganda billboard. Remember to do this otherwise more enemies are going to arrive and you will be stuck in a loop. It has happened to me more than once.
Call In A Ride From Anywhere
Traversing the open world is going to take a long time on foot. If you are outside a settlement then there are markers that you can use to call for a horse or car. Out in the open, you can call for a ride and have it delivered to you. You can open up your weapon wheel and then select the bottom option in order to get a car delivered to you. You can also open up the menu (Tab on PC) and head into the rides menu to customize and call a ride.
Vehicles that you find in the open world are not all that great and at times it is not ideal to steal a vehicle from an enemy. If you want to avoid conflict then this is a great way of getting a ride.
Getting Weapons And Gear
The fastest way of getting weapons and gear is by buying them from vendors. This is going to use in-game currency and resources. You can also find weapons and gear by exploring the world and opening chests. You can get pretty much every weapon and gear by opening chests. Some of the chests are present in the missions while others you will need to find on your own while exploring.
Weapons are pretty expensive in the game and modding them takes rare resources. So you should save up the in-game currency and resources until later on. Explore the different areas of the game and find weapons until you have a couple that you like. You can check out our Unique SMGs locations guide to learn more.
The Waters Are Very Dangerous
We do not recommend swimming from one island to another. The waters are dangerous and there is plenty in there that you will not be able to defend yourself against. Do yourself a favor and get a boat.
Clear The Cannons Before You Fly
While there are helicopters and other air transports in the game, early on enemy anti-air cannons are going to shoot you down if you take to the fly. In order to take to the skies freely, you need to take out the anti-air cannons. These are marked in red on your map.
You Can Airdrop On Fast Travel Points
While there are a couple of fast travel points on the map, at times they are far away from where you need to be. Luckily, once you have unlocked the wingsuit, you can airdrop onto fast travel points and then move closer to where you want to be without ever touching the ground. This is a quick way of getting from points A to point B.
Aim For The Head
As you play the game, you will notice that body shots do not do a lot of damage. Practice headshots with the weapon of your choice and get armor-piercing rounds to deal with body armor. No matter the tier of the enemy, headshots make quick work of targets.
Have Your Companions Do Your Dirty Work
You can get a couple of different companions in Far Cry 6 and they can be very useful in combat. You can have them attack enemies and do significant damage if not take them out entirely without you ever being detected. You can check out our guide on how you can unlock all the companions in the game if you want to learn more.
Claiming Vehicles For Yourself
If you like a vehicle that you find then you can claim it for yourself by stealing it and then driving it to your base. To make things easier, you can pull out your phone and scan the vehicle in order to save time and not have to drive each and every vehicle that you fancy back to your base.
The scanning method is not going to work on military vehicles. If you like a tank for example, then you will have to drive it back to your base in order to unlock it. The same applies to military helicopters.
