Since the Battle Royale boom there have been many games featuring battle royale and Eternal Return is one of them. However, not every battle Royale title has been successful and Eternal Return is an exception as the game is still going strong since its launch in 2020. Unfortunately, the game isn’t immune to errors and crashes on PC as players report Eternal Return Error Code 2. In this guide, I will list fixes that will help players resolve Error Code 2.
Eternal Return Error Code 2 Fixes You Can Try
PC players report that they are unable to play Eternal Return due to Error Code 2. There are multiple reasons why this error is occurring and the primary ones are related to your internet connection, since it is a live service free-to-play game. The following are the fixes that will help players fix the Eternal Return Error Code 2.
Restart Your Router
Error Code 2 is a network-related error and PC users report that restarting the router or unplugging the LAN cable and plugging it back in fixed the error.
One fix for the Eternal Return error code 2 is disabling the IPv6. Press Win+R buttons > type ncpa.cpl and press enter > right-click your active internet connection > properties > uncheck “Interner protocol version 6 (TCP/IPv6)” and press OK. Restart your PC, launch Eternal Return, and the error is now fixed.
Anti-virus software or Windows Security often quarantines game files like it’s executable and causes errors like Error Code 2 to pop up or crash games at startup. PC users can either disable the real-time protection of their anti-virus or exclude the game folder from the anti-virus, I recommend the latter.
This process varies in different anti-virus software, but it is a straightforward process. For Windows Security > open Settings > Privacy & Security > Windows Security > Virus & Threat Protection > click Manage settings under “Virus & Threat Protection settings” > click on “Add or remove exclusions” under “Exclusions” > click on “Add an exclusion” and select Folder > browse to the Eternal Return folder and add it.
After that verify game files, launch Eternal Return, and the Error Code 2 is now fixed. To verify game files, right-click the game in Steam library > properties > Installed files > click “Verify integrity of game files”.
Change DNS Settings
Another fix for the Eternal Return error code 2 is changing the DNS server assignment. Open Windows Settings > Network and Internet > select your active Internet connection > click on Edit for “DNS server assignment” > select Manual from the drop-down menu > enable IPv4 > type 188.8.131.52 under Prefered DNS and type 184.108.40.206 under Alternate DNS. Apply the changes, and restart your PC, launch Eternal Return, and the error is now fixed.
If you are using a VPN while playing the game, it is the reason behind Error Code 2. Players can fix the error by disabling the VPN.
Compatibility issues can cause the error code 2 when launching Eternal Return. Players can fix the error by running the compatibility troubleshooter which is available in Windows by default. Right-click Eternal Return in Steam library > Manage > Browse Local Files. A Windows Explorer window will open with game files. Right-click the executable > properties > Compatibility tab > click “Run compatibility troubleshooter”. Once the troubleshooter is done it might ask you to apply recommended settings.
