Shroud Cores in Enshrouded are a vital resource for upgrading your Flame Altar, crucial for extending your stay in the Shroud and enhancing character abilities. This guide will walk you through the process of acquiring and utilizing Shroud Cores in the game.
Enshrouded Shroud Cores
The most efficient method of acquiring Shroud Cores is by crafting them. To do this, you need to rescue the Alchemist NPC. Crafting a Shroud Core requires 10x Shroud Spores and 10x Shroud Liquid. Shroud Spores and Liquid can be collected by defeating regular enemies in Shroud-affected areas.
Another way to get Shroud Cores is by defeating boss enemies. These cores tend to drop from bosses, but they are rarer and harder to obtain in quantity compared to crafting.
Completing and destroying Elixir Wells, marked by purple icons on your map, is another method. Each completed well rewards you with a Shroud Core. Banshee-like enemies that float and fire icy homing projectiles also drop Shroud Cores upon defeat.
Using Shroud Cores
Approach the Flame Altar at your base and use the Shroud Cores to upgrade it. The first upgrade requires one Shroud Core, but subsequent upgrades will require more. Upgrading the Flame Altar extends your building range and strengthens the Flame, offering buffs to your time in the Shroud, passage level, Altar activation capacity, and character attribute bonuses.
Focus on crafting Shroud Cores as it’s more efficient than trying to obtain them from minibosses. Spend time in the Shroud farming Shroud Spores and Liquid for crafting purposes. When targeting bosses for Shroud Cores, ensure you’re well-equipped with quality weapons and armor. Use the Blacksmith to craft better weapons and gather materials for crafting armor.
