The Diablo series is pretty challenging, and the same is the case for Diablo 4, especially if you are new to the franchise. You might not know what you are supposed to do first or how the different mechanics of the game work. No need to worry. In this Diablo 4 beginner’s guide, we go over some tips and tricks that will help you win.
Diablo 4 Tips And Tricks
The following are some useful tips and tricks that you should keep in mind when playing Diablo 4:
Which World Tier Should You Pick?
When you start off, you will be asked to pick the World Tier. This is the difficulty of the game. If you are new to the franchise, then we recommend sticking with World Tier 1, but if you have played a previous game in the series, then you can pick World Tier 2. World Tier 2 will reward you with 20% more experience and 15% more gold, but the enemies are going to be more challenging as well.
World Tier 3 and 4 can only be unlocked once you have completed the main storyline and are level 50 or higher. You can do these if you want to continue leveling up your character once the main storyline has been completed.
If you are stuck and want to decrease the difficulty of the game, then you can change the world tier from the menu or the world tier statue in Kyovashad.
Experiment With Different Classes
Diablo 4 has five different classes; Barbarian, Necromancer, Druid, Rogue, and Sorcerer. The game lets you create up to 10 characters across these classes, and we recommend trying them out and testing to see which one you like the most. Since the game is pretty long, you will spend a lot of time perfecting your class, so be sure to check out the different classes to figure out which one you want to lock in.
Once you have completed the main storyline, you can pick another class and skip the entire storyline if you want. You will start from nothing, but it is still a nice option.
Get To Kyovashad (First City)
There is plenty of things that you can do in the game, but we recommend sticking to the main storyline until you get to the first city called Kyovashad. This will unlock different mechanics of the game that you can then explore.
Progressing through the main storyline will also unlock your mount, which will make it easier for you to traverse the world, and you will also get access to the Tree of Whispers which will unlock new ways of farming loot. You can always head back and complete the side quests and the dungeons that you might have missed.
Complete The Class Specialization Quest
As you progress through the game and level up your character, you will get a class specialization buff. This is something that we recommend doing once you get it, as this will unlock different specialization buffs that will upgrade your character.
When you get this specialization quest depends on your character’s class. The Rogue gets it at level 15, and the Necromancer gets it at level 25.
Unlock Waypoints For Fast Traveling
You will need to interact with waypoints and unlock fast travel points manually. Once you have interacted with them, you will be able to fast travel to these points and make traversal much faster and easier. You can even fast-travel out of dungeons.
Salvage Gear Rather Than Selling It
You can see the gear that you no longer need for Gold, but we recommend salvaging your gear rather than selling it. This is a common mistake that new players find themselves making and then regretting down the line. Salvaging your gear will reward you with materials that you will need in the end game. Salvaging gear will also unlock transmog effects.
Your Gear Degrades Every Time You Die
Diablo 4 does not penalize you for dying. There are plenty of checkpoints and respawns do not take a lot of time, but the only downside is that when you do die, your gear degrades a tiny bit.
With the amount of loot that you get in the game, it is only a matter of time before you no longer are able to pick up more gear. Take advantage of the Time Portal feature to teleport to a nearby town and salvage gear that you do not need. You can then head back through the portal and continue looting.
Upgrade Your Potions
After every 15 levels, you should return to the alchemist in town to upgrade your potions. These upgrades are going to cost your resources, so be sure to have the required materials, such as herbs and monster materials. As you level up, you will increase your health, and you will want to have upgraded potions to increase their effectiveness and the amount of health that they can restore.
While you are at the Alchemist, you should pick up Elixirs that increase the amount of XP that you gain. You will get some of the from side quests, but they are not that expensive to craft either. We also recommend doing the region progress and claiming to potion capacity reward to be able to carry more potions.
You Can Fast Travel Out Of Dungeons
Making your way through a dungeon and defeating the boss at the end can be very rewarding, but making your way back can get gathering boring. Fortunately, you can open up your map and find the dungeon entrance icon to quickly teleport and make your way out.
The bar underneath the health bar of a boss is the stun meter. You can fill this up with elemental or stun abilities. Once the bar is full, the boss will be staggered for a short duration of time. You can then use your strongest abilities to deal damage.
Defeat Treasure Goblins
Treasure Goblins have a golden glow and leave behind a trail of gold. They move pretty quickly and have a lot of health, and can lead you to additional enemies. You need to prioritize killing the Treasure Goblin since it drops a lot of loot, including gold. The goblin will keep running, so be sure to stun it and use your abilities.
