Battle Passes have sort of become a norm in modern-day video games. Games like Diablo 4 follow a seasonal model which means that you will need to purchase a Battle Pass every few months to get everything that the game offers. And while buying one is not mandatory in any sense of the word, there are some cool benefits you can get from it, especially if you love cosmetics. In this Diablo 4 guide, we will explain everything that the Battle Pass offers, its reward tiers, and other bonuses.

Diablo 4 Battle Pass Explained

Before we begin, do note that the Battle Pass does not have any pay-to-win elements and everything offered in the Premium Rewards Track is purely cosmetic.

Battle Pass Duration

To give you ample time for fully completing the Battle Pass, each season in Diablo 4 lasts for three months. An amazing change that Blizzard has made is that you are free to complete the challenges that you want. No longer will you be forced to do all the listed challenges. Now all that you will need to do is to simply complete the challenges that you enjoy while leaving the non-fun ones.

However, it is important to note that you will still need to complete the required number of challenges but at least there is a little flexibility.

Understanding Favor

Favor is basically another term that Blizzard has coined for XP. You will need to earn Favor to progress the Battle Pass to earn the rewards that it offers. Even if you are doing nothing out of ordinary, you will still earn a lot of Favor by just playing the game.

Battle Pass Tiers

There are three tiers of Battle Pass in Diablo 4. Below, you will get a brief rundown of these tiers:

FreePremiumPremium Accelerated
This is available for free for all the players. There are 27 reward tiers to unlock. For a price of $10 USD, you will get a total of 90 reward tiers to unlockIf you are willing to shell out $25 USD, you will get to skip the first 25 reward tiers and get an extra cosmetic on top of it all. This is designed for people who do not mind spending more to skip a few reward tiers. If you are planning on playing a lot, we do not recommend purchasing this at all.

Season Blessings

As you progress the Battle Pass, you will continue to invest in a new mechanic called Season Blessings. These are basically Passive Effects that affect all your characters. Some of these are increased EXP, Gold, higher chances of salvaging rare materials, extra Elixir duration, etc. It is important to note that you will only be able to invest into a couple of these effects so make sure to choose wisely.

But how do you get these Passive Effects? It is done using a material named Smoldering Ashes which can only be obtained from the Battle Pass. To keep it an even playing field for everyone, Blizzard has made sure that it is only available on the free reward tiers.

Cosmetics

Aside from things mentioned above, you will also receive a lot of cosmetics including Armor Sets for every class, Mounts, Mount Armor, Premium Currency, etc. from the Battle Pass. It is strictly cosmetics-only and there are no pay-2-win things.
