Tessellation is Destiny 2 is a unique Fusion Rifle that can change its damage-type depending on your equipped subclass. This means you will finally be able to have an all Strand / Stasis loadout should you choose to do so. Tessellation also has an Alternate Firing Mode which is somewhat similar to Traveler’s Chosen if it was on steroids. In this guide, we have covered everything you need to know about unlocking Tessellation in Destiny 2: The Final Shape.

Destiny 2 Tessellation

The first thing you will need to do is to pre-order Destiny 2: The Final Shape with the Annual Pass. You can do this on Xbox, PS, or PC — just remember that you will need to pre-order Destiny 2: The Final Shape with the Annual Pass to be eligible.

After pre-ordering The Final Shape, you will need to launch Destiny 2 and complete a little mission. Once done, head to The Tower and find the Special Deliveries Terminal near Banshee-44. This is where you will get Tessellation along with other rewards. This is pretty much all you need to do.

Alternate Method

Similar to Quicksilver Storm, sometimes pre-order rewards become available for everyone through the Monument to Lost Lights kiosk. It is in the Tower and lets you buy Exotic Weapons which also includes pre-order bonuses. However, we do not know how long will it take for Tessellation to appear there.

Tessellation Exotic Traits

When equipped, Tessellation changes its damage according to your subclass. Therefore, it can be Arc, Solar, Void, Strand, or Stasis. And since it is available in the Energy slot, you should be able to have three Strand / Stasis weapons.

Other than that, Tessellation has an Exotic Trait called Property: Irreducible. This lets you hold down the reload button while having a full grenade to trigger the Alternate Fire mode. This shoots a big projectile that blows up enemies with an elemental explosion — the more enemies you defeat with the explosion, the more Grenade Energy it refunds. Tessellation also provides a small amount of Grenade Energy for every final blow which helps keep the loop going.

  • Property: Irreducible — Hold the reload button with full Grenade Energy to launch a big explosive shot.
  • Property: Undecidable — Tessellation changes its damage type to match your subclass, and it gives you Grenade Energy for every final blow.

Tessellation Catalyst

As of right now, the catalyst for Tessellation has not been revealed. Similar to Quicksilver Storm in Lightfall, we expect it to launch alongside The Final Shape. Since it has not been revealed, we do not know what it does.

This is everything we have on how to get Tessellation in Destiny 2: The Final Shape. If there is anything else that you would like to add, be sure to let us know in the comments below!
