It took a long time but Bungie finally realized that fashion is the true endgame as the Transmog AKA Armor Synthesis is finally here. For some reason, Bungie thought it was a good idea to make the process of turning an armor piece into a universal ornament as confusing as humanly possible. But still, we’ll try to walk everyone through the process. In this guide, we’ve detailed all there’s to know about how Armor Synthesis works in Destiny 2 Season of the Splicer.
Destiny 2 Season of the Splicer Armor Synthesis
Getting started with Armor Synthesis is simple. Complete the initial questline for Season of the Splicer and head over to Banshee-44 at The Tower. Once done, travel to the Annex to speak with Ada-1 – she’s in her usual hole from the Black Armory days.
After speaking to her, travel to Europa and enter the BrayTech Facility. Interact with the terminal and grab a Processing Unit from the other end of the area. All of it is simple enough. Take the Processing Unit back to Ada-1 and install it at the terminal. At this point, she’ll reward a total of 15 Synthweave – 5 for each class. An additional one is also rewarded for completing the quest.
For the uninitiated, a Synthweave is required to make an ornament out of any non-exotic armor piece. Therefore, we need 5 to complete a set e.g., Reverie Dawn armor set.
After getting the gifts, continue to complete Path of the Splicer I questline to receive another 15 Synthweave – 5 for each class once more. But how does one get more? First, do note that only 15 Synthweave (per class) can be held at a time, therefore, make sure to spend the ones before unlocking more.
How to Get Synthweave
How do I get more Synthweave? Bounties. Ada-1 has a bunch of bounties categorized into Vanguard, Crucible, Gambit, Destination, Raids/Dungeons. Bungie also thought it was a good idea to put a limit on these bounties. A player can’t purchase more than 10 bounties per class in a season. Moreover, similar to Rare Bounties from the good ole Black Armory days, one can’t hold more than one bounty at a time.
Buying them also requires material which, for some godawful reason, are time-gated. What this means is that this material automatically drops after a player spends 2 minutes in combat – doesn’t matter if he/she killed one enemy or a hundred within those 2 minutes. I can’t seem to remember but someone did calculate things and it turned out that one needs to play the game for approx. 700 hours in order to have enough materials to buy all 10 bounties in a season which is plain ridiculous.
You can, of course, also buy Synthweave using Silver but I’d advise against it. Please don’t support these cashgrab decisions from developers.
As for the bounties, these vary depending on which one is picked. A few that I completed required me to complete the final encounter of any raid/dungeon, complete any encounter in a raid/dungeon, defeating champions in NF, complete 4 NFs at any difficulty, etc.
Can I Transmog Exotics?
Sadly, no. There isn’t any way to transomg exotics in the game. While a bummer, I understand the decision.
