The Manticore is a brand new exotic submachine gun from Veist. It’s a 900 RPM Void-energy SMG with a strong focus on aerial combat. The Manticore is an interesting gun that a lot of players +ill enjoy using. While it isn’t the most powerful Exotic Primary out there, it’s a lot of fun to use in normal content. In this Destiny 2 guide, we’ll help you learn everything there is to know about unlocking The Manticore in Season of the Seraph.
First, let’s talk about the things that make The Manticore a unique +eapon in Destiny 2. Dealing damage with The Manticore charges the Antigrav Repulsors which let you hover in the air until the bar on the left is emptied. If you’re shooting at a target for more than 2-3 seconds, you start to descend. You can also switch weapons to descend immediately. Killing targets while airborne increases the damage output of The Manticore and also extends the Antigrav Repulsors. You are, however, not able to move freely while you’re airborne which makes you a free target in PvP and end-game PvE content.
From the looks of it, Bungie seems to focus a lot on Airborne Effectiveness. Season of the Seraph also provided a lot of Airborne Effectiveness to things like D.A.R.C.I., Whisper of the Worm, etc. This makes us theorize that Aerial Combat will be a huge part of the upcoming Lightfall expansion.
The Manticore is an instant-unlock for everyone that has the Premium Season Pass. For players that don’t have the Premium Season Pass, they’ll need to reach Level 35 on the Free Track to acquire it. Even as a F2P player, reaching Level 35 on the Season Pass shouldn’t be hard if you’re completing Bounties, Seasonal Challenges, etc.
It also has an Exotic Catalyst named Flying Monster that can be acquired from Banshee-44. Once applied, the Exotic Catalyst provides a little damage resistance if you get airborne kills.
This should help you get The Manticore in D2: Season of the Seraph. You can also check our detailed Destiny 2 wiki page for more tips and strategies.
