The first Grandmaster Nightfall Ordeal pits your fireteam against Kargen in the Insight Terminus. This 1050 PL strike requires you to be at 1025 PL to even start it – though you don’t get any kind of advantages for being over 1025 PL. It’s an incredibly difficult mission with no real incentives (if I’m being honest) except the Conqueror title/seal. In this guide, we’ll go over some tips and tricks to help you complete the Insight Terminus Grandmaster Nightfall Ordeal in Destiny 2 Season of the Worthy.
Destiny 2 Insight Terminus Grandmaster Nightfall Ordeal
Before we begin, let’s talk about all the modifiers that you’ll encounter in the Grandmaster difficulty:
Unstoppable Champions | Self-explanatory! |
Barrier Champions | Self-explanatory! |
Scorched Earth | Enemies throw a lot more grenades. |
Chaff | No radar. |
Extinguish | If your fireteam falls in a Restricted Zone, everyone is returned to Orbit. |
Limited Revives | Start with only 4 revives and earn more by defeating champions. |
Kargen’s Strategem | Increased environmental and Void damage. |
Contest | PL above 1025 provides no additional benefits. |
Joining in Progress | Disabled. |
Match Game | Enemy shields take more damage from a matching element. |
In addition to this, there’s also a 45-minute timer after which you lose all the revives. You’ll also find all three elemental shields on enemies so make sure you’re equipped properly. From our experience, your team composition should look something like this:
- 3x Hunters
- 2x Hunters, 1x Warlock
- 2x Warlocks, 1x Hunter
- 1x Hunter, 1x Warlock, 1x Titan
Let’s talk about some of the key things these classes should consider running:
Hunters | Top-tree Nightstalker with Orpheus Rig |
Warlocks | Well of Riddance with Phoenix Protocol |
Titans | Ward of Dawn with Helm of Saint-14 |
As for the weapons, there are some combinations that seem to work really well:
- Mountaintop, Recluse (Anti-barrier), Anarchy
- Hand Cannon (Unstoppable), Divinity, 21% Delirium or Edgewise
- Izanagi’s Burden, Recluse (Anti-barrier), 21% Delirium or Edgewise
- Hand Cannon (Unstoppable), Eriana’s Vow w/ Catalyst, 21% Delirium or Edgewise
Tips and Strategies
The first thing that you need to understand is that you’re at a massive PL disadvantage and no matter how much Resilience, Recovery, or mods you’ve equipped, if an enemy sees, it’ll most likely one-shot you.
Try to take your time with everything and ensure that you rely on long-ranged engagements over anything else. Try not to greed and have two players running Special Finishers so that you never run out of Special Ammo. If you’re a Hunter, rely on invisibility to revive and complete objectives like dunking orbs.
I should also mention that enemies can and will kill you inside a Ward of Dawn or Well of Riddance so don’t feel too comfortable when standing in those. Lastly, try to run the mission a couple of times to see from where enemies usually spawn and memorize these locations to use to your advantage.
If you don’t care about champions, try running 3x Hunters and use your invisibility to get past all the champions directly to the boss. It’s something that Gladd has run.
