Destiny 2 Guardian Rank Progression Made Easier, Commendation Score Reduced

Bungie has been tweaking the progression of the Guardian Rank system in Destiny 2. Previously, players complained about having to give and receive commendations to progress the guardian rank and that the commendation score needed to progress was too high. Bungie previously slashed the commendation score required to progress the Guardian Ranks, but it has now been decreased further.

Destiny 2 Commendation Score Slashed, No Need To Give Commendations

The first welcome change is that Guardian Rank objectives that require players to give commendations have been removed from ranks 7, 8 and 9. Furthermore, the commendation score that you need for Guardian Ranks 7-9 has been reduced again. The following is the new commendation score that you need to progress from rank 7 to 9:

  • Rank 7: 200 (was 460)
  • Rank 8: 477 (was 790)
  • Rank 9: 910 (was 1290

Furthermore, Hawthorne’s weekly challenge Commendations target has been reduced from 20 to 5. The overall difficulty of the game has also been reduced in some instances. The enemy HP scalar in all non-raid/dungeon Legend and Master activities has been reduced by 10%, and the co-op enemy HP scalar in Legendary Avalon has been reduced by 33% in a full fireteam.

Bungie has also made some tweaks to the weapon damage. The damage of the following weapons has been increased:

  • Auto Rifles – 25%
  • Pulse Rifles – 20%
  • Hand Cannons – 20%
  • Sidearms – 20%
  • Scout Rifles – 10%

Bungie has also tweaked some of the exotic weapons, such as Final Warning, Tarrabah, and Revision Zero. You can check out more about the update in the latest This Week At Bungie blog post.
