How to Unlock Gjallarhorn’s Catalyst in Destiny 2

As a part of Bungie’s 30th-anniversary celebrations, Gjallarhorn has found its way to Destiny 2. It also has an Exotic Catalyst that makes it even better. Unlocking it, however, can be slightly confusing. In this Destiny 2 guide, we have detailed all there is to know about how to unlock Gjallarhorn’s catalyst.

Destiny 2 Gjallarhorn Catalyst

Before we begin, do note that the Exotic Catalyst for Gjallarhorn can only be unlocked once the weapon has been unlocked. In order to unlock Gjallarhorn, the player needs to complete the new Grasp of Avarice dungeon, kill a bunch of Fallen, talk to a couple of NPCs, etc. – the main thing is completing the new dungeon.

Once unlocked, the player must once again enter the Grasp of Avarice (on any difficulty) and locate three bosses (yellow-bar Vandals). Killing these Vandals will cause them to drop Engrams that must be delivered to a nearby chest within the time limit. Doing so for all three Vandals/Chests will unlock Gjallarhorn’s catalyst.

Below, we have shared the locations of all three Vandals and their corresponding chests:

Chest #1
After entering the dungeon, look for a boss enemy on the cliffs toward the right side – the area where a Shrieker appears. Kill it to collect Engrams and return to the metal scaffolding near the entrance to locate the chest.

Chest #2
After the sequence with a large cylinder rolling down the staircase, continue to climb up and look for a Vandal on the left side – do not enter the vent yet. Grab the loot and enter the vent to get to the chest at the end – it should be on a platform.

Chest #3
The last Vandal is in the area where the player is needed to destroy the Fallen Shield. Once the encounter is completed, do not head up and look for a Vandal near a small waterfall – there should be some purple drapes nearby. After grabbing the riches, head back to the central island to get the chest. This one is easily the most tricky one to complete unless the player is really, really fast.

Once the last chest is looted, leave the dungeon or complete it – hardly matters. Kill 400 enemies with it in any activity to complete the catalyst.

This is all we have got in how to unlock Gjallarhorn catalyst in Destiny 2. Feel free to check out our detailed Destiny 2 wiki page for more help on the game.
