Magic in Demon’s Souls Remake is categorized into spells and miracles. Spells in the game provide a range of buffs, debuffs, and many other effects. These include increased defense, attack, status ailments, etc. To cast a magic spell, you’ll need to have a Catalyst. In this Demon’s Souls Remake guide, we’ve shared the locations of all 22 magic spells in the game, their locations, and effects.

Demon’s Souls Remake Magic Spells Locations

Before we begin, do note that it’s impossible to get all the magic spells in a single playthrough. A number of spells in Demon’s Souls Remake require the same Boss Soul. You’ll need multiple playthroughs if you want to obtain all the magic spells in Demon’s Souls for PS5.

You’ll also need to rescue Yuria, the Witch and Sage Freke, the Visionary since all the spells in the game come from them. You can find Sage Freke locked in a cell at the Tower of Latria and Yuria can be found at the Bolterian Palace, Tower Knight Archstone guarded by a Fat Official.

With that said, here are all the spells, their effects, and locations in Demon’s Souls Remake:

Acid Cloud
You can learn it from Sage Freke, the Visionary for the Eroded Demon’s Soul. Acid Cloud produces a cloud of acid that corrodes equipment durability.

Cloak
You can learn it from Sage Freke, the Visionary and Freke’s Apprentice for 500 souls. Cloak reduces enemy aggro radius by 25% which is almost half of what the Thief’s Ring provides.

Cursed Weapon
You need to give a Silver Demon’s Soul to Yuria, the Witch to learn it. Casting the Cursed Weapon increase the physical damage of enchantable weapons by 50% but you’ll also lose 1% HP per second.

Death Cloud
Death Cloud can be learned from Sage Freke, the Visionary in exchange of a Pureblood Demon’s Soul. When cast, you create a cloud of the plague that affects all enemies except False King Allant, Garl Vinland, and Red Dragon.

Demon’s Prank
You need to have 500 souls to learn it from Sage Freke, the Visionary and Freke’s Apprentice. The spell lets you create a loud, laughing noise at a far off place to distract enemies. Demon’s Prank is incredibly useful against the Old Hero boss.

Enchant Weapon
You need to have 5,000 souls to learn it from Sage Freke, the Visionary and Freke’s Apprentice. Casting the spell with Catalyst in the left-hand strengthens right-hand enchantable weapons.

Fireball
You can learn it from Sage Freke, the Visionary in exchange for a Dragon Demon’s Soul. When cast, you shoot a fireball that creates an explosion at the targeted place.

Fire Spray
You can learn it from Sage Freke, the Visionary in exchange for a Hard Demon’s Soul. Fire Spray lets you fire multiple, small fireballs that can be shot while moving.

Firestorm
To get Firestorm, you’ll need to give Yuria, the Witch a Dragon Demon’s Soul. The spell engulfs the player with fire that deals AoE damage.

Flame Toss
You can learn it from Sage Freke, the Visionary and Freke’s Apprentice for 1,000 souls. Anyone playing the Magician class also starts the game with the spell. When cast, it creates a stream of fire that explodes on impact and deals Fire damage to the targets.

Homing Soul Arrow
It can be learned from Sage Freke, the Visionary in exchange for a Yellow Demon’s Soul. Homing Soul Arrow fires a tracking Soul Arrow that can create upto 5 orbs of energy.

Ignite
It can be learned from Yuria, the Witch in exchange for a Hard Demon’s Soul. When cast, it lets you create a large flame in front of you that deals 30% more damage than a Fireball. Ignite is, however, incredibly short-ranged for a magic spell.

Light Weapon
It can be learned from Sage Freke, the Visionary in exchange for a Silver Demon’s Soul. When used with the Catalyst in the left-hand, Light Weapon greatly strengthens the right-hand enchantable weapons.

Poison Cloud
It can be learned from Sage Freke, the Visionary in exchange for a Wriggling Demon’s Soul. It creates a mist of poisonous gas that deals 5 Poison damage per second for a total of 905 damage. Some of the bosses Poison Cloud is good against bosses such as Old Hero, Garl Vinland, Selen Vinland, Flamelurker, Maneater, False King, Tower Knight, Phalanx, Executioner Miralda, etc.

Protection
You can learn it from Sage Freke, the Visionary and Freke’s Apprentice for 5,000 souls. When cast, Protection provides 30% damage resistance against physical attacks.

Relief
It can be learned from Yuria, the Witch in exchange for a Pureblood Demon’s Soul. Relief is only useful on an ally as it replenishes their entire HP and removes all the status ailments.

Soul Arrow
You can learn it from Sage Freke, the Visionary and Freke’s Apprentice for 1,000 souls. It’s pretty self-explanatory. It fires a Soul Arrow that deals damage to targets. Royalty class in Demon’s Souls 2020 for PS5 starts with the spell by default.

Soul Ray
Soul Ray can be learned from Sage Freke, the Visionary in exchange for a Doll Demon’s Soul. It fires off a stream of light that penetrates targets and can hit multiple enemies at the same time.

Soulsucker
It can be learned from Yuria, the Witch in exchange for Maiden in Black Demon’s Soul. When used on normal enemies, Soulsucker will drain twice the amount of souls that you’ll get from killing the enemy any other way. The spell, however, is best used against unsuspecting enemies since it’s a long cast time. When used against other human players, it will decrease their level by 1 and you’ll receive souls equivalent to the level.

Soul Thirst
Soul Thirst can be learned from Yuria, the Witch in exchange of a Yellow Demon’s Soul. Killing an enemy while the Soul Thirst is still in effect, you’ll receive 50% more souls from the defeated targets. It can stack with Soulsucker, Ring of Avarice, and Silver Bracelets for some easy soul farming.

Warding
Warding can be learned from Sage Freke, the Visionary in exchange for an Iron Demon’s Soul. It provides a 70% additional defense against all physical attacks.

Water Veil
You can learn it from Sage Freke, the Visionary and Freke’s Apprentice for 500 souls. Water Veil engulfs the caster with water and reduces incoming Fire damage by 45%. It’s always recommended to have it on during the Bolterian Palace and Stonefang Tunnel.
