Horizon Forbidden West’s Burning Shores DLC is out now, and it has a lot of content, including new boss fights and areas to explore. Horus is the final boss of the DLC, and it is rather tricky to defeat. In this Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores guide, we go over how you can defeat Horus, the final boss.

Where To Find Horus In Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores

Horus can be found in the area which was once called Los Angeles. The boss is next to the Hollywood sign on Zenith Mountain. Since this is the final boss of the DLC, you cannot simply head over there and fight the machine. You will need to follow the DLC storyline and work with Sylens to get to Horus.

How To Defeat Horus In Horizon Forbidden West

Horus is a massive boss that has a couple of different attacks, but there are a couple of tips and tricks that you can use to take it down.

Go Stealthy In The Start

We recommend hiding in the bushes and staying out of sight during the start of the encounter with Horus. Hiding in the bushes will protect you from the physical attacks that the boss uses.

Disrupt Horus’ Cooling System

As you head up the mountain, you will see a couple of mechanical legs that are covered in greenery. You will also find a cooling system which is an important part of the machine. When you try and disrupt this, more machines will attack you. You will need to take them down and then head into the underwater tunnel to disrupt the cooler system.

Use Your Size And Speed To Your Advantage

Horus is a massive boss, but it is also very slow. While you are small and much faster. Make the most of this and use your speed to your advantage. When Horus attacks you with its limbs, you can dodge the incoming attack. You should be on the move so that you are not caught off-guard.

Healing Items Are Key

Since this is a major boss fight, you are going to take damage. So you should have ample healing items with you so that you can top up your health.

Attack The Heat Sinks

Since you took out Horus’ cooling system, it will need to head to the water to cool down. When that happens, you need to aim for the heat sinks. You can use your scanner to highlight the heat sinks and then shoot them with your long-range bow. You want to keep hitting the heat sinks until they explode.

Take Cover From The Charged Thunder Attack

When you deal enough damage, Horus is going to use a charged thunder attack. When this happens, you need to find cover to protect yourself and avoid taking damage. The attack spreads throughout the area, so finding cover is the best way of avoiding damage.

Climb Horus To Destroy The Heat Sink Cover

Toward the end of the encounter, you will need to climb Horus via its limb. You will need to get to the top and attack the heat sink cover before coming back down to the ground. This will expose the main heat sink, and the boss will become vulnerable and will overheat.

Once the main heat sink is destroyed, Horus will be defeated. This is how you can defeat Horus in Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores DLC. If you want to learn more, then you can check out our Horizon Forbidden West guides hub.
