Dead Island 2 is finally out, and it does seem like a pretty straightforward game, but there are plenty of ways in which you can kill zombies. In this Dead Island 2 beginner’s guide, we go over some tips and tricks that will help you survive the zombie-infested streets of L.A.
Dead Island 2 Tips And Tricks
The following are some useful tips and tricks that you should keep in mind when playing Dead Island 2:
Pay Attention To Your Deck Of Ability Cards
The ability deck might not seem like much at the start of the game, but it does get better as you progress the game and unlock better cards. You can switch these, even during fights. Which we encourage doing. You can swap these in order to get the upper hand in boss battles.
Do Not Worry About Looting Everything
There are a ton of drops in Dead Island 2, from weapons to resources and even blueprints and keys. As you start the game, you might feel compelled to pick up everything and scan every area that you go through. Remember that resources are abundant, and they respawn once you have left an area. Furthermore, you might find some locked doors, and you might think that you missed something. You will get the specific keys that you need at some point. So do not stress too much. Call In Reinforcements
There is no difficulty level in the game, so if you are stuck or having a hard time, then you can invite a friend to help you. The game does have a fair checkpoint system, so you do not have to repeat much if you die. You also get to keep the XP that you earned. You do lose 10% of your cash when you die, which is not much.
Do Not Hoard Money
As mentioned, you do lose 10% of your money when you die. We recommend spending your cash on important items and weapon upgrades as well as repairs before you head out for missions to make sure that you do not lose your money. You can sell rare or uncommon weapons that you do not need anymore.
Buy Fuses From Vendors
As you progress through the game, you will come across different vendors that sell items. We recommend buying fuses if you have the money since these will allow you to open storage rooms and other areas that have plenty of loot which can be very useful, especially later on in the game.
Upgrading Weapons Also Repairs Them
If you like a weapon and are planning to use it and it is damaged, you can simply upgrade it, which will repair it automatically. You do not have to waste resources by repairing it first and then upgrading it. Upgrading the weapon will repair it as well.
Use Curveballs
These are items that you can use to do damage or apply debuffs. Once used, they have a short cooldown, so you cannot spam them, but they can be very effective in taking down enemies. You can check out our guide on how you can unlock all the curveballs in the game.
Health Packs Remove Status Effects
Not only do health packs restore a large chunk of your health, but they also remove status effects such as fire, caustic, bleeding, and shock.
Dodge Instead Of Block
You will need to pick between dodge and block. We recommend dodge since a perfectly timed dodge will not get you the counter-attack, but it will get you out of harm’s way and increase your survivability. Blocking is harder to master.
