Cyberpunk 2077 Night City Wire Event Delayed

CD Projekt RED has announced the delay of Night City Wire, the Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay event. The news came 24 hours after Sony delayed the PS5 event. The decision is made to support the Black Lives Matter movement in the United States and the ongoing protests against the murder of Goerge Floyd. In a statement shared on Twitter, CD Projekt RED had the following to say.

We decided to move Night City Wire to Jun 25th. We still look forward to sharing new information about CP’77, but more important discussions are happening right now and we want them to be heard. We wholeheartedly stand against racism, intolerance and violence. Black Lives Matter.

This isn’t the first video game to announce a delay and it won’t be the last. Activision has already delayed the Season 4  of Call of Duty Modern Warfare. And we already know about the PlayStation 5 event being postponed. There is some good news though, unlike Sony, CD Projekt RED announced a new date for Night City Wire. Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay will now be revealed on June 25. Of course, everything depends on what the situation will be in the United States at the time. It is likely that we might see another delay.

2020 has become a meme, the ongoing pandemic is now mixed with widespread protests in the United States.  The current political climate presents so much uncertainty that nothing can be set in stone. If the world doesn’t stabilize in the next few months, we might even see PS5 and Xbox Series X pushed back to 2021.
