Cyberpunk 2077 Hacking Guide – Solve Hacking Puzzles, Breach Protocols

Cyberpunk 2077 hacking guide

Hacking is an interesting and integral part of Cyberpunk 2077.  You can use hacks to access enemy networks in hostile areas and enemy outposts. There are two types of Breach Protocols in Cyberpunk 2077 depending on your connection type – physical or remote. Both types of connections require you to solve hacking puzzles through mini-games but that’s all they have in common. In this guide, we will explain everything there is to know regarding Breach Protocols and hacking puzzles in Cyberpunk 2077.

Cyberpunk 2077 Hacking Guide – How to Solve Puzzles, Breach Protocols, Connection Types

Features  Physical Connections Remote Connections
Hacking Process  Triggered automatically.  Triggered only if you cast the Breach Protocol quickhack.
Hacked target  A specific device such as an access point, a computer, etc.  Any enemy of generic device such as a vending machine.
Cyberdeck requirement  None  A cyberdeck must be equipped.
Mini-game objective/reward  Procurement of data mining resources; primarily money and, if you unlocked the relevant Perks in the Breach Protocol skill tree, quickhack components or even quickhacks.  Applications of one or more daemons in the network, in accordance with the Perks that you have unlocked in the Breach Protocol skill tree; this can, for example, disable all surveillance cameras for three minutes.
Effect on the network  none  All enemies or devices in the network are affected by the uploaded daemon (s)

Physical connections are used to farm resources such as money and crafting components for quickhacks. Meanwhile, remote connections are used to weaken enemies or disable security devices such as cameras, turrets, and it greatly helps infiltrations in hostile areas.

No matter the connection type, Breach Protocol requires you to complete a timed mini puzzle in Cyberpunk 2077. You need to follow the following rules to solve all hacking puzzles in Cyberpunk 2077:

The main objective of hacking puzzles is to reproduce the sequence of numbers shown on the right of the display. Each sequence will correspond to a daemon program you can upload.

To achieve this you need to select a number (node) from the matrix to the left. This will add them to the buffer. If your buffer matches the sequence of a daemon, you receive the corresponding reward.

You are only allowed to choose a number from the currently active row or column, always begin from the top row. The first number you select determines which column is activated next.

Follow this pattern of alternating between rows and columns to add the correct sequence to the buffer.

Your buffer has limited capacity, so you need to properly plan your moves beforehand to successfully activate the correct sequence. You can increase the size of your buffer by upgrading your character.

Invest in intelligence to increase your hacking abilities. The lower the hacking puzzle difficulty the easier it is to solve in Cyberpunk 2077.

If you are having a hard time identifying a path through the matrix, it can sometimes be useful to start from the end. Look for the last number in the sequence, then work out the required route from there.
