Check If Your CPU Supports AVX
If you are playing on an old CPU that lacks the AVX instruction set, that is causing Cyberpunk 2077 has Flatlined error. There is no fix for it other than upgrading the CPU. Disable Third-Party Tools/Software

Delete UserSetting.json File

Disable OneDrive Backup
Another reason for Cyberpunk 2077 not saving your progress is that you have enabled Onerive sync or backup. Disable OneDrive sync and your game progress will start saving.
- Right-click the OneDrive icon in the Taskbar
- Go to Settings > Sync and Backup > Manage Backup
- Turn off backup for the Documents folder
- Click “Save Changes”
- Launch Starfield, save your progress, and the game will create a save file.
Disable Controlled Folder Access
Controlled Folder Access is a Windows Security feature that prevents Cyberpunk 2077 from creating a save file. Disabling it will allow the game to create save files and save your progress. To disable Controlled Folder Access, open Windows Settings Update & Security > Windows Security > Virus & Threat Protection > Manage ransomware protection. Disable Controlled Folder Access, play Cyberpunk 2077 and your progress will be saved.
For BitDefender on Windows 7, Go to the Dashboard > Protection tab > Click on Application Access under the Safe Files applet > Flag the checkmark for Cyberpunk 2077. This will fix the game not saving issue.
Unhandled Exception, Access Violation (0xC0000005) Fix

Error Reason: Unhandled exception
Expression: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xC0000005)
Message: The thread attempted to write to an inaccessible address at 0x48.
Terminate Nahimic Through Task Manager
One reason for the Unhandled exception error is the Nahimic audio software. Terminate the Nahimic process through the task manager to fix the EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xC0000005) error. Open Task Manager, and terminate all the processes that start with ‘Nahimic’. This will fix the Cyberpunk 2077 Unhandled exception error.
Run SFC Scan
Corrupt or damaged system files is another reason for the EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xC0000005) error to pop up while playing Cyberpunk 2077. Windows has a built-in too that downloads and replaces missing or corrupt system files and fixes the EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION error. Open CMD and run it as an administrator, type sfc /scannow, and hit Enter. Let the scan complete and it’ll replace corrupt or missing system files, which’ll fix the Cyberpunk 2077 EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xC0000005) error.
Key Binding Failed Fix
PC players are unable to key bind certain keys in Cyberpunk 2077. According to PC users, they get the Key Binding Failed error when they try to bind keys. The following is the fix for it.
Right-click the game in Steam library > Properties > Local Files tab > click Browse Local Files. Navigate to Cyberpunk 2077 > r6 > config. Open “inputUserMappings.xml” in Notepad and press Ctrl + F. Look for the key you want to bind by typing “IK_’the key you want to bind'”. For example, if you want to bind the F key, type the following with quotes.
“IK_F”
Replace every instance of it with another key that you don’t intend to use very often like “IK_G” or replace ‘G’ with any key you want. Save the file and launch Cyberpunk 2077. Now you’ll be able to bind the key you just unbound in the notepad file. This will fix the Key Binding Failed error with Cyberpunk.
EXCEPTION_ILLEGAL_INSTRUCTION (0xC000001D), AVX Fix
According to PC players, Cyberpunk 2077 crashes with the Expression: EXCEPTION_ILLEGAL_INSTRUCTION (0xC000001D) error. This particular error pops up if you are playing Cyberpunk on an old CPU that doesn’t support AVX instructions set.
While players have to wait for CD Projekt Red to release a patch and fix it, there is a workaround to fix the Cyberpunk 2077 error 0xC000001D. Right-click Cyberpunk2077 in your Steam Library > Manage > Browse Local files. A new window will open with Cyberpunk 2077’s game files.
Go to bin/x64 and open Cyberpunk2077.exe in a hexadecimal editor. Search for “554881ECA00000000F2970E8” and change the first byte to C3 which means change it to “C34881ECA00000000F2970E8”.
In case you don’t know how this works, check this video showcasing how to replace “554881ECA00000000F2970E8” with “C34881ECA00000000F2970E8”. This will fix the error. However, this fix might not work for everyone and won’t completely eliminate the need for the AVX instructions set.
Stuttering And Performance Fix
With Update 2.0, Cyberpunk 2077 PC system requirements were updated. The game now utilizes the CPU even more proficiently and the required hardware to run the game has been updated. Meaning on systems where Cyberpunk 2077 was getting high FPS, it’s struggling to run the game smoothly due to its increased CPU demands. The following are the tweaks that will help PC users improve performance and fix stuttering in Cyberpunk 2077.

Turn On Game Mode
Windows 10 and 11 offer a Game mode that helps run video games better on your systems. Enabling the Game Mode might fix the stutter and will potentially boost FPS. To enable Game Mode, open Windows Settings > Gaming > Game Mode > Turn on Game Mode.
Nvidia Control Panel Tweaks
Nvidia Control Panel allows Nvidia GPU users to tweak some settings for better performance. These tweaks often help improve FPS and fix stuttering in Cyberpunk 2077. Open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program settings > select Cyberpunk 2077 and make the following changes.
CUDA GPUs – “All”
Set Power Management to “Prefer Maximum Performance”
Set Texture filtering – Quality to “High Performance
Triple Buffering – “Off”
Set Vertical Sync to “Use the 3D application setting”

Some players are reporting that they are experiencing Cyberpunk 2077 crash with the gpuapidx12error.cpp(40) error message. The fix for this error is simple as players need to just switch the language to Polish through Steam client. This won’t change the in-game language you have selected or the game. Run Steam And Cyberpunk 2077 As Administrator
Right-click on Steam.exe > “Properties” > “Compatibility” tab > check “Run this program as an administrator” and hit Apply. Then open your Steam library > right-click Cyberpunk 2077 in your Steam library > Manage > Browse local files. A new window will open with Cyberpunk 2077 game files.

Note: Unless you are using a Freesync or G.sync display, your Max Frame Limit should be 1/2, 1/3rd, or 1/4th of your monitor’s refresh rate. Otherwise, the game will feel jittery.

Check OS
If you are playing the game on a 32-bit OS, then you are out of luck as the game doesn’t support it. Upgrade to a 64-bit OS even if it’s Windows 7 and the game will work. For Windows 10, make sure your OS is updated.
Terminate Nahimic Process
Nahimic audio software is one reason for Cyberpunk 2077 to crash at startup. The startup crash can be fixed by terminating the Nahimic process in the Task Manager. Open Task Manager and terminate all the processes that start with ‘Nahimic’. After that, launch Cyberpunk 2077 and it won’t crash at launch anymore.
Check CPU

Run The Game As An Administrator
Lack of admin rights could be the reason why the game is crashing at launch. Running the game as an administrator will fix the crash at startup issue. Right-click Cyberpunk 2077 is Steam library > Manage > Browse Local Files. A new window will open with Cyberpunk’s game files. Go to bib/x64 and right-click Cyberpunk2077.exe > properties > Compatibility tab > check “Run this program as an administrator” and apply. Launch Cyberpunk 2077 and it won’t crash at launch.
Disable Anti-virus
PC users often use anti-virus software to protect their systems from malware and viruses. Often these anti-virus programs detect game executables or another important game file as malware or virus. DeepGuard anti-virus is often found to be blocking game executables and causing them to crash at startup. If you have installed an anti-virus, it is the reason why Cyberpunk 2077 is crashing at startup. You can either disable real-time protection or exclude the game folder from it, I recommend the latter.
