The following are the different factors that affect character progression in Cyberpunk 2077 what they mean and what you can expect from them:
The body type that you select is going to affect the relationships that you can have in Cyberpunk 2077. Some characters can only be romanced if you use a male body while there are others that can only be romanced if you have a female body.
After you are down with the design of your character, you have the option to invest some points into the attributes. You can spend 7 points and you can add up to 3 points to a single attribute. If you add heavily in body and reflexes then your fighting proficiency will increase but other stats are going to be below average.
Each attribute provides unique passive bonuses and determines how much you can develop a subset of skills and perks. You will get one attribute point to invest every time you level up.
Attributes can have a major impact in Cyberpunk 2077 and how you deal with different situations. If your body attribute is 8 then you can intimidate a bouncer at a club that is not allowing you to enter. It also allows you to open doors.
Experience Points (XP)

Complete milestones to level up and get a point that you can invest into attributes. You also get one for your perks. Higher levels and higher stats will give make you more powerful and will allow you to deal with elite enemies.
You can check V’s level and the level of your enemy in order to see whether you are going to be up for the challenge or you will get your ass handed to you if you trigger combat.
Cyberpunk 2077 has 12 different skills which begin at level 1. They are sorted into 5 subsets, each is linked to a specific attribute. Engineering and crafting skills for example come under the Technical Ability attribute. Skill levels are limited by your overall attribute levels. For example, if your Reflex stat is 3 then you can only rank up the skills to 3.
You can perform certain actions in the game that allow you to enhance your skills. Silent takedowns for example enhances your Stealth skill. Every time you skill up you are granted a reward such as perk points or bonus perks.
