Core Keeper is a Steam Early Access title, at the time of writing, that has become quite popular. However, PC players are experiencing errors and issues with Core Keeper like the in-game crash, no Ultrawide resolution support, and more. Here I have compiled a list of errors that PC players are reporting along with their fixes and workarounds.
Core Keeper Crash And Fixes
Core Keep is a survival game that up to 8 players can play together to mine resources, craft, and survive. The game is a Steam Early Access title, at the time of writing, and has clicked with PC players.
Since the game is in Early Access, there are bound to be errors and issues with Core Keeper like the in-game crash, no Ultrawide resolution support, and more. The following are the errors that PC players are experiencing along with their fixes and workarounds.
Game Not Starting, Crash At Launch Fix
Core Keeper PC players are reporting that the game is crashing at launch or not starting at all. Here is how to fix the Core Keeper crash at launch issue.
Before we start with the fixes, make sure you are using the 64-Bit Windows 10 operating system as Core Keeper doesn’t support the older OS. If you are using a 4-bit Win 10 OS, then it might not be updated. Update your operating system to the latest build and the issue will be fixed.
Your anti-virus is probably blocking the game’s executable and causing the crash at launch or game not starting issue. PC players can either disable real-time protection of their anti-virus or exclude the game’s folder from it, I recommend the latter. After that, verify game files and Core Keeper won’t crash at startup anymore.
There are some settings that can cause Core Keeper to crash at startup or not launch. Open Nvidia Control Panel > Display > Adjust desktop size and position > select “No Scaling” under Scaling and hit apply. Also, run Core Keeper as an administrator. This will make sure the game doesn’t crash at launch.
Ultrawide Fix
Core Keeper doesn’t support Ultrawide resolutions which is a problem with PC players that own Ultrawide displays. While there is no proper fix for it, there is a workaround that can help players. However, it won’t make the game support Ultrawide but, it’ll stretch the image to fit the Ultrawide resolution. If you are interested, then follow the steps below.
- Download HxD hex editor and open it
- Right-click Core Keeper in Steam > manage > browse local files. Find ‘UnityPlayer.dll’ and drag this file into the hex editor
- Press ctrl+f change Datatype to “Hex-values” and search for “39 8E E3 3F”
- Move the cursor to 39 in the hex value and type in from one of the following hex values for your respective resolution
- 5760×1080 = AB AA AA 40
- 3440×1440 = 8E E3 18 40
- 2560×1080 = 26 B4 17 40
- Save these changes and then drag “GameAssembly.dll” in the hex editor
- Press ctrl+f change Datatype to “Hex-values” and search for “39 8E E3 3F” and change the entirety of it to “60 E5 18 40” and save changes
Crash Fix
Core Keeper PC players are reporting that the game is crashing in-game and here is how to fix it. If you are using in-game overlays like Steam in-game overlay or GeForce Experience overlay, it might be crashing the game. Disable in-game overlays and the issue will be fixed.
Also, using third-party tools and software like MSI Afterburner, RGB software, or more can also cause the game to crash while in-game. Disable such software and Core Keeper will stop crashing.
