Intel CPUs are at the center of controversy once again as yet another vulnerability is discovered by Cybersecurity researchers. The security vulnerability is named “Plundervolt” by the researchers which is a mixture of the words “plunder” and “undervolt.” The security flaw is noted under CVE-2019-11157 and was first reported to Intel back in June of this year under the company’s bug bounty program. The program puts the findings under a 6-month NDA which is lo longer applies. Hence, Cybersecurity researchers have made their findings public. According to their findings, the security vulnerability can compromise SGX (software guard extensions) protected by undervolting the CPU when executing protected computations, to the degree that the SGX memory encryption failed to protect data. Cybersecurity researchers also released proof of concept code. Plundervolt is similar yet different from “Rowhammer” as it flips bits inside the CPU prior to their shift to memory, so SGX isn’t…

Darksiders Genesis might not look like a very demanding game and if you are playing the game on 1080p but things change drastically at 4K. The game is going to run fine on high settings using the AMD Radeon R9 380X or Nvidia GTX 960 4GB. Increasing the resolution does change things. This Diablo-like game can be very graphics intensive. At 1440p you will need an R9 Nano or GTX 1060 6Gb at high settings. Increase the resolution to 4K and the requirements get really high indeed. You will need the GTX 1080 Ti to run the game at 4K 60 FPS. Higher-end graphics cards perform better but at high settings, the RTX 2080 Ti is able to run at the game at 80 FPS. It is worth mentioning that these numbers are for the High preset. You can change or tweak the settings a little bit to get better…

AMD has released a couple of new graphics cards in the past few weeks but it seems that team red is not done yet. We have heard that the company might release the RX 5500 soon but now we have spotted the AMD RX 5600 which has been leaked by Asus. The AMD RX 5600 is supposed to be between the 5500 and the 5700 which could mean that it will come with 6GB of RAM. The 5500 is meant for 1080p gaming which could mean that the RX 5600 could be ideal for 1440p gaming. This is a leak so do take this with a grain of salt but we do know that this graphics card is in the works and that custom models will be available. You can check out the leak from Asus below: Asus and Asrock submitted multiple versions of the new graphics card to the…

Intel isn’t particularly having a good time considering AMD Ryzen is giving it a run for its money and Intel CPU’s own security issues. Now, Guerilla Games is claiming that the PlayStation 3 Cell processor is still more powerful than any modern Intel CPU even the Core i9-9900K. Speaking with GameInformer, Guerrilla Games technical director Michiel van der Leeuw talked about the infamous Cell CPU used in PlayStation 3. The PlayStation 3 had such a bucketload of power It’s common knowledge that PlayStation 3 was a relatively difficult console to develop games for, due to its Cell processor. However, according to Michiel, not only the Cell CPU is more powerful than any modern Intel processor but “it was too hard to use”. Even desktop chips nowadays, the fastest Intel stuff you can buy is not by far as powerful as the Cell CPU, but it’s very difficult to get power…

Ever since Sony confirmed that it has been working on the PS5, all we hear is that it is going to have an SSD that is going to make loading screens a thing of the past due to fast speeds. Such marketing does not make sense now that it has been confirmed that the PS5 is going to use an NVMe SSD from Samsung. Xbox Scarlett is most likely going to use the same SSD. All the other specs are pretty much the same as well. We know that both consoles are going to feature AMD 7nm Zen2 + Navi graphics and that both are going to be able to output up to 8K and up to 120 FPS. With that in mind, it does not make any sense that Sony is trying to market the speed of the SSD. Even though the storage has been a massive bottleneck when…

AMD is known to appeal to the budget gamers and a new AMD Celadon claims to blow Intel integrated graphics out of the water entirely. AMD integrated graphics are already ahead of Intel when it comes to graphics performance and even though Intel is working on a more powerful graphics solution for chips that will release in the future it seems that AMD is going to counter that with Celadon APUs. AMD Celadon APU Specifications The new leak claims that the APUs will be powered by an integrated graphics solution that uses DDR4 memory, 128bit interface and 8 compute units. Interestingly, the leak claims that the graphics part will run at 1.75 GHz which is very impressive indeed keeping in mind that Raven Ridge APUs could only hit 1.3 GHz. This should be a very impressive performance boost and something that budget gamers will appreciate. The 512 SPs will destroy…

Xbox Scarlett is the next-generation console that Microsoft is working on. When Xbox One came out it was supposed to support VR and the same was the case with Xbox One X but that never happened. Phil Spencer has now confirmed that Xbox Scarlett will not support VR as there is little demand for it. It made sense for the PS4 because so many units were already sold and all people had to do was get an additional headset which was not very expensive compared to other VR headsets on the market. Here is what Phil Spencer had to say regarding Xbox Scarlett not getting VR support: I have some issues with VR — it’s isolating and I think of games as a communal, kind of together experience. We’re responding to what our customers are asking for and… nobody’s asking for VR. The vast majority of our customers know if…

For almost a decade, quad-core processors or CPUs with 4 Cores and 4 Threads have reigned supreme in 1080p gaming. This reign has come to an end and these 4 Core/ 4 Threaded Intel Core i5s or Ryzen CPUs will no longer be suitable for gaming as this console generation comes to an end. Most of you understand why the CPU requirements of a PC game are directly proportional to console specs. For those who don’t, let me give you a brief rundown. The fact that video game sales are significantly higher on consoles than PC, game developers focus primarily to perfect their game engines for consoles. Furthermore, to avoid disparity in visual fidelity, PC gamers are more or less bound by console specs. Hence, the only true advancement in graphics is seen when a console generation is near its end. Both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One feature custom AMD…

In recent weeks Sony has confirmed plenty of details about the PS5 but we do not know how much it is going to cost or when exactly it is going to come out. Leaker PSErebus has now revealed some new information regarding the release date and the price of the PS5. PSErebus has been right about the things in the past so the person does have some credibility but this is a leak at the end of the day so do take this information with a grain of salt. That said, according to him the PS5 is going to release in less than a year. The release date for Playstation 5 is going to be November 20th, 2020. He also mentioned that the console is going to cost $499. This is very expensive indeed keeping in mind the price range of the current consoles. Even the Xbox One with the…

Intel CPU shipment delays have been a problem for some time now and it seems that the issue not going to be resolved any time soon. In parts of the world, customers are unable to get their hands on the Intel CPUs that they want. This has made an opening for AMD and we have seen plenty of people make the shift from Intel to AMD in the recent few months. Michelle Johnston Holthaus, the Executive Vice President, General Manager, Sales, Marketing and Communications Group at Intel apologized for the CPU shipment delays that customers are facing. Here is what she had to say regarding the matter: I’d like to acknowledge and sincerely apologize for the impact recent PC CPU shipment delays are having on your business and to thank you for your continued partnership. I also want to update you on our actions and investments to improve supply-demand balance…
