The Carian Retaliation Ash of War is pretty broken right now since shields have been buffed. If you apply the Ashes of War on a shield such as the Carian Knight Magic Shield and use Glintstone Scrap, then you can do some serious damage via retaliatory Glintstone daggers. In this Elden Ring guide, we are going to go over how you can get the Carian Retaliation Ash of War.
Not only can you use it to deal damage but if you encounter mages and time it right, you can protect yourself from their attacks using the Ash of War.
Obtaining The Carian Retaliation Ash Of War In Elden Ring
You can find the Carian Retaliation Ash of War in the Carion Manor. You do need to beat the boss at the end. Once you do beat him, interact with the site of grace and head out the manor from the back. Now you need to hug the left side and drop down onto the building below. You can see the path taken in the picture below:
You can then drop down into a room where you can find an NPC called Pidia, Carian Merchant. Talk to the NPC a couple of times and then you will be able to buy items from him. This includes the Carian Retaliation Ashes of War. You can also get the Larval Tear, which is an item you need in order to respec your character.
Once you have the Ashes of War you can apply it on a shield of your choice at the blacksmith in the Roundtable Hold. Now take it to a mage enemy and use the Ashes of War. You can also use the Glintstone Scrap that is most likely piled up in your inventory and use the Ashes right after that.
The Carian Retaliation Ashes of War will cost you 3,000 runes. Other useful items that you can get from the NPC include Celestial Dew and a Ritual Pot.
Note that there might be another way of getting to the NPC. This is the method that worked for me.
