Fix #4: Force The Game To Run With DirectX11
The ‘DEV ERROR 6165’ in Call of Duty Modern Warfare also appears if a user has a medium-tier GPU struggling to render Direct X12 games. In such cases, it is better to opt for this fix, even though it will cause minor visual changes in the game.
To force Call of Duty Modern Warfare to run with DirectX 11, first close the game in the background. Then, open the Battle.net client and sign in. Click on the Call of Duty title from the Library and click on Options. Then select Game Settings and ensure Game Settings is selected from the vertical menu. Then, check the box next to “Additional Command Line Arguments.” and type “-d3d11”. Then, save the changes and then launch Call of Duty Modern Warfare.
Fix #5: Run Call of Duty Modern Warfare in Windowed Mode
Oftentimes, when users run Call of Duty Modern Warfare in fullscreen mode, it leads to ‘DEV ERROR 6165’. It might sound undoable but for some users, reconfiguring the game to run in the windowed mode helped them resolve the ‘DEV ERROR 6165’.
To run Call of Duty Modern Warfare in windowed mode, launch the game like you usually do through Battle.Net and head to the game’s main menu. Then go to Settings and then to the Graphics sub-menu.
Now, click on Display and then on Display Mode. Select Windowed from the list of options and save the changes. Hopefully, the ‘DEV ERROR 6165’ will now no longer appear.
