The boat exploration feature in Bravely Default 2 can be considered equivalent to the game’s multiplayer component. Players can use it to acquire a bunch of items while they’re not playing the game – kind of like we’ve seen in Genshin Impact. In this guide, we’ve detailed everything there’s to know about how boat exploration works in Bravely Default 2.
Bravely Default 2 Boat Exploration
First of all, let’s talk about unlocking the boat exploration mechanic in the game. In order to unlock it, players need to meet the party and be introduced to NPCs and questlines. While in Halcyonia, players will be asked to retrieve a boat for a lady. The entire process is pretty straightforward! All that the players need to do is to head over to the beach and find the boat. Once done, players will be able to find the lady at every major location in Bravely Default 2.
Once the boat is unlocked, players can simply walk to the lady and send the boat on an expedition. The boat will roam around the game world in search of riches like items, JP Orbs, XP boosts, etc., and bring them back to the players after a maximum of 12 hours. At this point, players can speak to the lady once more and retrieve all the items before sending the boat on another expedition. One important thing to remember here is that items that the boat can get are capped after 12 hours, therefore, players won’t get any additional benefit for not retrieving the items after the initial 12 hours have passed.
It’s a good practice to always send the boat on an expedition while quitting the game since it even works when the game isn’t running in the background. Making it a habit will let players roll in things like JP Orbs which can be incredibly useful.
