Diamond Keys are a new addition to Borderlands 3 and are used to open up Diamond Chests on Sanctuary 3. These are tied to the new Vault Card system – Borderlands’ take on the popular Seasonal Model in video games. Players are required to complete various challenges to progress their Vault Card that rewards a chest with a chance to contain a Diamond Key. In this guide, we’ve detailed everything there’s to know about how to get Diamond Keys in Borderlands 3 and use them to earn a variety of different rewards.
Borderlands 3 Diamond Keys
Diamond Keys can only be acquired in the Director’s Cut DLC. To start, we need to use the Vault Card, a new progression system in BL3. It’s got a separate progress bar directly below the XP one. Once full, it rewards crates containing loot including Diamond Keys. However, do note that it all comes down to RNG. Opening a crate doesn’t guarantee a Diamond Key.
There are a lot of different ways to increase Vault Card progress e.g., completing missions, defeating enemies, challenges, etc.
Diamond Keys are required to open the Diamond Chest on Sanctuary 3. To open it, head over to the area below the Bridge and use the key there. Once used, players can pick one item each from a selection of Shields, Grenade Mods, and Weapons. Once done, a random Legendary appears that can be grabbed as well. Depending on Vault Card progression and RNGesus, players can repeat the process for as long as they want.
Lastly, remember that not all items in BL3 are made equal. Some are obviously better than others, therefore, spend a little time before making a decision.
