How to Unlock Artifacts in Borderlands 3
Artifacts won’t be available right from the get-go as you’ll need to complete a certain task to unlock the feature. What you’ll need to do is to complete through the entirety of ECHO-6 story. The conclusion is reached when you take down the vault boss enemy.
This will grant you Eridian Synchronizer which you can utilize to unlock Artifacts. Note, you receive the item while you’re on your way to completing objectives in the second vault. Now, Artifacts can be gathered and equipped to your inventory. Artifacts are found as random loot drops and in chests riddled around the world of Borderlands 3.
Alternatively, if you’re well on cash, you can spend some at the vending machines to purchase certain Artifacts. Look around for SHiFT codes as well, since these can also award you with Artifacts.
These artifacts will apply a range of buffs on your weapon and gadgets. Some common examples include increased damage output, resistance to a certain element and enhanced mobility and other stats.
Artifacts, thus act like extensions of the Relic system from Borderlands 2, by augmenting a characters’ abilities with elemental buffs and powers.
