Error Code: 3107840166 is one of the many errors that Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War players are experiencing while playing. There are multiple reasons why this error can occur and here I will help players with how to fix the Error Code: 3107840166 in Black Ops Cold War.

How To Fix Error 3107840166

Before we start with the fixes let’s try some basic troubleshooting as it might fix the Error Code: 3107840166 for some of you. First, scan and repair the game files. Chances are, once you do that, Black Ops Cold War will download a file that will fix the error.

Also, update your GPU driver if you haven’t already. Make sure to do a clean installation.

If you are playing Black Ops Cold War at an unlocked FPS, then try capping it at 60 FPS to fix the error. The reason why I recommend capping the FPS is that some GPUs don’t take such load very well and cause the game to crash and in the case of Balck Ops Cold War, cause the game to crash with Error Code: 3107840166.

With that out of the way, the following are the fixes for the Error Code: 3107840166.

Fix #1

As I mentioned above that capping the game’s FPS might result in Error Code: 3107840166 fixing. But, in case capping the FPS isn’t an option, use MSI Afterburner to reduce the GPU clock. Start slow and only reduce the GPU Clock by 50 MHz. If the error persists, drop the clock further. Ideally, you won’t have to do reduce the GPU Clock more than 200 Mhz.

Alternatively, you can just reduce the resolution scaler. Resolution Scaler is an option in Black Ops Cold War’s graphics settings. Reducing the scaler will drop the render resolution for the game and will upscale to the native one. It’ll reduce the GPU load and potentially fix Error Code: 3107840166 but, the game will look blurry which can make things difficult in multiplayer.

Fix #2

If the error isn’t fixed, then worry not as there is another fix. Open Regedit and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > Microsoft. Open the Cryptography folder, double click “MachineGuid” and change the data value to “d1eb246e-6243-4460-a88e-5d4e52b1ef6b”. This will fix the Error Code: 3107840166.
