The RTX 4070 Ti features 25% more CUDA cores than the RTX 3070 Ti, and the boost clock speeds are much higher at 2610 MHz compared to 1770 MHz. The RTX 4070 Ti also comes with more RT and Tensor cores. ASUS is known for making some of the best PC parts on the market, and the ROG Strix RTX 4070 Ti is no exception. This is a premium graphics card, just like all the other ROG Strix models we have seen from ASUS. The higher price tag does get you better performance, a unique design, and excellent cooling. Whether or not all of that is worth the ASUS premium.
At first glance, the card does look very similar to the ROG Strix 4080 and 4090, and in terms of aesthetics, it is, but the ROG Strix 4070 Ti is shorter (336 x 150 x 63 mm) and has a smaller heatsink. It is still a very beefy graphics card and takes up 3.15 slots. The three Axial-tech fans can keep the thermals in check, even when the graphics card is full.
Like the RTX 4080 and 4090 variants, the card comes in black with red, blue, and white accents. RGB lighting along the end of the card and the Republic of Gamers logo also lights up. All the RGB lighting effects can be synced and customized.
The card also has a BIOS switch which allows you to switch between performance and quiet modes. It also has zero dB technology, so when the card is not under significant load, the fans will not spin.
In terms of performance, the ASUS ROG Strix RTX 4070 Ti can get close to 11,000 points in the Time Spy Extreme benchmark. This is very similar to the RTX 3090 Ti.

The TUF Gaming OC edition has a lower price tag than the ROG Strix variant, which is why we recommend this as the best overall RTX 4070 Ti variant. You do not get the over-the-top RGB lighting on this variant, but there is some RGB implementation if you are interested. Asus has gone with a stealthier look with this model, just like other TUF variants on the market. While this is a cheaper model, it does have a triple fan cooler and a backplate.
The ASUS TUF RTX 4070 Ti OC Edition is a reasonably sized card. Since this is an XX70 series card, it does not need the giant coolers that the 4090 or the 4080 has. The dimensions of the graphics card are 305 x 138 x 65 mm, making it more compact than the Strix variant. It does take up 3 slots. It is big enough to look like a proper high-end GPU while compact enough to fit inside most cases.
ASUS has gone with a metal shroud and backplate for the TUF variant, and the neutral grey does look nice. The card also has a BIOS switch which allows you to switch between performance and quiet modes. It also has zero dB technology, so when the card is not under significant load, the fans will not spin.
The boost clock speed is lower than the ROG Strix edition and even some other graphics cards on this list, but that translates to 3-5 FPS in games, which is within the margin of error.
In games such as Doom Eternal and Spider-Man Remastered, the performance of the TUF OC edition is on par with variants such as the Gigabyte AERO OC, MSI SUPRIM X, and even the Gigabyte Gaming OC. One of the major highlights of the Gigabyte AORUS 4070 Ti Master is the LED edge display which can show information such as GPU temperature or in-game FPS. You can also program it to show different images and animations. While the card does have some very cool RGB lighting effects, they are not over the top. The fans have ring lights that you can customize to create cool lighting effects. The AORUS logo on the shroud lights up as well.
This is a massive card with dimensions of 342 X 153 X 70.6 mm, and takes up almost 4 slots. It has a metal backplate with a large cutout. The card also has a BIOS switch which allows you to switch between performance and quiet modes.

If you are interested in a white PC build, then the AERO OC is an option that might catch your eye. It matches the aesthetic of the AERO motherboards but is very similar to the Gigabyte Gaming OC cards. The card comes with a metal backplate that has a large cutout. The RGB lighting is minimal, with a single strip with the customizable AERO logo.
While this is marketed as the OC variant, out of the box, it has an overclock of 30 MHz compared to the reference specs, which should make little to no difference. The card has the Windforce cooling system with three 100mm fans. There are 7 heat pipes and a vapor chamber to keep the thermals in check.
The card also has a BIOS switch which allows you to switch between performance and quiet modes. The SUPRIM X is a premium graphics card similar to the ASUS Strix. The design is similar to the RTX 4080 and 4090 SUPRIM variants. It is a bit thinner, but it is a 3-slot card and is 340mm long, making it longer than some other variants, such as the Gigabyte AERO (336mm) and ASUS TUF (304mm).
The card has a nice clean design, and the neutral grey color will allow you to match it with plenty of different PC parts. Since this is a premium card, it is built well and comes with a metal shroud and backplate. It has plenty of RGB lighting set to white by default, but you can change that in the software.
The card has a BIOS switch which allows you to switch between the gaming profile and the silent profile. It also has a fan stop function that stops the fan when the card is idle or not under heavy load. Since this is a premium graphics card, you would expect an additional HDMI or a Type-C port, but that is not the case. You get the standard 1 x HDMI 2.1a and 3 x DP 1.4a ports. While most RTX 4070 Ti cards come with splitters that convert the 16-pin connector to a pair of 8-pin connectors, the SUPRIM splits it into 3x 8-pin connectors. So make sure that your power supply can make use of them.

The MSI RTX 4070 TI Gaming X Trio is a mid-range option that is not priced as high as some premium variants. This is still a 4070 Ti, so you get similar performance levels. It has a triple fan cooler to keep the thermals in check and a perforated backplate for better heat dissipation.
The TRI FROZR 3 cooling system features a nickel-plated heatsink and 6 heat pipes. While this is not the full-fat cooling solution on the MSI SUPRIM X variant, it still does a great job of keeping the thermals in check. One of the downsides is that the card has a 10+2 phase design rather than a better 11-phase configuration.
While this variant is not as bulky as others, it is still pretty long and has 336 x 140 x 71 mm dimensions. Even though this card is not priced as high as some of the other variants, it does not produce a lot of noise, and the noise levels stay at around 35 dB when under load, which is very respectable indeed. The RGB lighting is not over-the-top. There are two RGB lighting zones, and the MSI logo also lights up. You can turn these lights off if you are interested in a non-RGB build.
This is a great option if you are interested in getting a 4070 Ti and do not want to pay a lot of money.

ZOTAC RTX 4070 Ti Trinity – MSRP Pricing

The Zotac 4070 Ti Trinity OC is a reasonably priced option; you can find it at the MSRP of $799. Zotac has changed the design of its graphics card with the 40 series. The Trinity OC has a much rounder design rather than an industrial one. It is similar to the 4080; some even call it the spaceship look.
The Trinity OC does not have a BIOS switch, so switching between the gaming profile and the silent profile with a flick of a button is not an option. The size is relatively manageable compared to the larger RTX 4080 and 4090 variants, and it has dimensions of 306.8 X 119.4 X 58.5mm and takes up 2.5 slots.
The official boost clock speed of the card is 2625 MHz, but you can expect the speeds to get a bit higher when in-game. Even though this is the OC edition, it only has a 15 MHz overclock compared to the reference specifications, so that will not make any difference in-game. If you are thinking about overclocking the card manually to get better performance, then, unfortunately, that is not an option. You might be able to squeeze out an additional 3% of performance, but that is pretty much it. If you are getting this variant, then you should use it as is.
The cooling is decent, and you can expect temperatures in the high 60s or low 70s when the GPU is under full load. This is another reason why you should not overclock this graphics card.

Should You Buy An RTX 4070 Ti?
The RTX 4070 Ti provides around 60% better performance than the 3060 Ti but also costs 60% more. So the cost per frame for both graphics cards is practically the same. Hardware Unboxed did a deep dive into the cost per frame of both graphics cards, and after testing 16 games at 4K, they concluded that both cards have a cost per frame of $10.34 US.
The bigger brother, RTX 4080, offers a slightly worse cost per frame of $11 US. The AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT is marginally better at $9.57. With all this in mind, the RTX 4070 Ti might seem light hot garbage at launch. If you upgrade from the GTX 10 series or mid-range RTX 20 series and have a budget of around $800 US, this might be one of the only options.
You might also question how long 12 GB of VRAM will last you. Especially at 4K resolution. Just two years ago, the RTX 3080 offered 10 GB of VRAM. Some would say that at the RTX 4070 Ti price point, 16 GB of VRAM should be the minimum, keeping in mind that 8 GB is no longer cutting it in some specific games.
With the release of the 4070 Ti, we might see price cuts from AMD, and the Radeon RX 7900 XT might become the best choice.
We could recommend the 4070 Ti if you get an MSRP of $799. If the price is higher at around $900, then you might be better off with the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX which costs around $1,000 US.
