Traits in Baldur’s Gate 3 are in-game actions that your character can perform. These traits are specific to different classes and not every class can use all the available traits. As you continue to gain XP and level your character up, you’ll gain access to additional subclasses and, in turn, gain access to additional traits as well as features. In this guide, we’ve provided you with an overview of all the traits in Baldur’s Gate, their effects, and unlock requirements.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Traits
As mentioned earlier, traits in BG3 provide you with a range of effects. These effects can be anything from increased HP to damage resistance, increased movement speed, and more. Below, you’ll find a complete list of traits in the game:
Base Racial Speed
Unlock Requirement: High Elf, Tiefling, Drow, Human, Githyanki, Gold Dwarf, Shield Dwarf, Half-Elf, Halfling
You’re able to move 9m per turn. It’s reduced to 7.5m for Gold Dwarves, Shield Dwarves, Lightfoot Halflings, Strongheart Halflings and increased to 10.5m for Wood Half-Elves.
Fleet of Foot
Unlock Requirement: Level 1 Wood Elf
The base walking speed is changed to 10.5m.
Mask of the Wild
Unlock Requirement: Level 1 Wood Elf, Level 1 Wood Half-Elf
This trait further enhances your proficiency with stealth.
Unlock Requirement: Level 1 Gold Dwarf
Your HP is increased by +1 and continues to increase by +1 every time you level up.
Unlock Requirement: Level 1 Lightfoot Halfling
You gain increased proficiency when it comes to stealth.
Unlock Requirement: Level 1 Strongheart Halfling
You gain resistance against Poison damage and are able to save throws against Poison.
