Baldur’s Gate 3 File Verification Error Fixes That’ll Help

As the name suggests, this Baldur’s Gate 3 error is related to the game files. You probably have modified game files, installed mods, or a third party software/driver for a peripheral that is interfering with the game and more. The following are the fixes for the BG3 File Verification Error.

Verify Game Files

If you have modified any game files, verifying the game files will download the original files and replace the modified ones fixing the File Verification Error when you launch Baldur’s Gate 3. Right-click the game in Steam library > Properties > Installed files > Verify integrity of game files.

Delete Mods

Another reason why you are experiencing the File Verification error when you launch Baldur’s Gate 3 is that you have installed mods for the game. Remove/Disable Third-party Peripherals

This is a weird one, Baldur’s Gate 3 players report that removing or disabling third-party peripherals like Oculus Quest 2, controllers, and more fixed the File Verification error. I recommend you unplug all peripherals from your PC, then plug them in one by one and launch the game each time you plug in a peripheral. This way, you’ll find which peripheral is causing the File Verification error when you launch the game. Once found, keep the peripheral unplugged when you play Baldur’s Gate 3, and the error is fixed.

Disable Anti-Virus

Your anti-virus software is another reason why you are experiencing the File Verification error, if you are using one. You can either disable real-time protection or exclude the game folder from the anti-virus, I recommend the latter. After that, right-click Baldurs Gate 3 in Steam library > Properties > Installed files > Verify integrity of game files. This will fix the File Verification Error.
