Baldur’s Gate 3 has plenty of romance options, and not only can you get it on with companions, but you can do it with some non-companion characters as well. The Illithid Mind Flayer Emperor isn’t someone that you trust, but you still have the option to romance him. In this Baldur’s Gate 3 guide, we go over how you can romance the Emperor.
How To Romance The Emperor In Baldur’s Gate 3
The Emperor will come to you in the form of the Dreamlover or the Guardian in your dreams. Later on, during Act 3, you learn that the Dreamlover is actually the Illithid Mind Flayer Emperor. During the Astral Plane battle, you will want to side with the Emperor if you want the romance option. When you get asked about evolving, you should accept. After a couple of long rests, the Emperor will share details of his life with you. You should hold his hand when you get the option.
When you reach the lower city, you will learn about a hideout, which is part of a side quest. You can head over and obtain the treasure in the lair. In another dream, you will have a romance with the Emperor in Baldur’s Gate 3. You will need to pick the following dialogue options:
- I could have done with more coddling.
- True
If you are already in a relationship with another character, then this should not affect it.
Rejecting The Emperor’s Advances
There are two options that will reject the Emperor’s attempts at romance with you in Baldur’s Gate 3:
- I think you misread the signs – I’m fine with what we have now
- Absolutely not, you freak
The first will have the Emperor focus on the task at hand. The latter will make him angry, and he will tell you that you are nothing more than a puppet.
