Back 4 Blood Card System Explained

Card System featured in Back 4 Blood makes for an interesting gameplay loop. The player can create a Custom Deck to gain a range of different effects like increased stamina, increased XP, more money, etc. so these are vital to the experience. In this guide, we have detailed all there is to know about Cards, their types, and how the Card System works in Back 4 Blood.

Back 4 Blood Card

At the beginning of a level, the player will be asked to draw random Cards and choose one of them. The selected Cards will last the entirety of the campaign. Depending on the selected Cards, the player can work toward builds that complement a specific playstyle.

There are a couple of different methods of obtaining new Cards. These can be found in the world and then purchased with the in-game currency or acquired through Supply Lines. One important thing to note here is that these Cards are unlocked permanently. It is a good idea to go through the effects of different Cards before making a decision.

There are 2 different kinds of Cards in Back 4 Blood – Corruption Cards and Active Cards.

Corruption Cards

These are the Cards that The Director draws at the beginning of a level. When drawn, these cards add new layers of dangers to a level.

Active Cards

These are the Cards that the player can draw in order to get a range of effects i.e., improved stamina, more ammunition, max HP, among many others. Active Cards are further categorized into Reflex, Discipline, Brawn, and Fortune. Generally, the idea is to choose the Active Cards that counter the Corruption Cards.
