Armored Core VI Fires Of Rubicon has launched for PC and consoles with great critical reception. PC video games often face crashes and errors and this game is no different. PC users report the game is crashing to the desktop without any error message or crashing at startup. In this Armored Core 6 guide, I will list fixes that will help PC users fix the crashes.
Armored Core 6 Crash Fixes You Can Try
There are multiple reasons why the Armored Core 6 is crashing like the Easy Anti Cheat causing the game to crash, in-game overlays, overclocked GPU, and more. The following are the fixes that will help PC users fix the Armored Core 6 crashes. Also, see our Armored Core 6 Stuttering Fix and Easy Anti Cheat Error Fix.
Disable Easy Anti-Cheat
PC users report that the game’s anti-cheat measure is the one causing the game to crash. Disabling the Easy Anti-Cheat and playing Armored Core 6 offline fixes the crashing issue. Right-click the game in your Steam library > Manage > Browse local files. A new explorer window will open with game files.
Open the “Game” folder and rename the “start_protected_game.exe” file to anything like “EldenRing.bkp”. After that, rename the “armoredcore6.exe” file to “start_protected_game”. Launch Armored Core 6, the the crashes are now fixed.
Update GPU Driver
Your GPU driver is another reason why the game is crashing in-game. Either you haven’t updated the GPU driver in a while or the installed GPU driver version is corrupt or incompatible with Armored Core 6. Update the GPU driver and ensure to do a clean installation.
Disable Kernel Stack Protection
Kernel Stack Protection is a security feature in Windows 11 that isn’t compatible with Easy Anti Cheat, if you don’t want to disable EAC and play offline, you can disable Kernel Stack Protection and the game will stop crashing at startup. To disable Kernel stack protection, open Windows Settings > Privacy & Security > Windows Security > Device Security > click “Core Isolation details” under “Core Isolation” > turn off “Kernel-mode Hardware-enforced Stack Protection”. Launch Armored Core 6 and the game won’t crash anymore.
Disable In-game Overlay
Almost every PC software related to video games has an in-game overlay for easily accessing features while in-game. However, these in-game overlays can cause games to crash, and why Armored Core 6 is crashing. Disable in-game overlays like Steam in-game overlay, Discord overlay, or GeForce Experience overlay. To disable Steam in-game overlay, open Steam settings > In-Game > uncheck “Enable the Steam overlay” and press OK.
To Disable the GeForce Experience overlay, open GeForce Experience> click on the Gear icon next to your username > General > turn off the “IN-GAME Overlay” options.
Delete EasyAntiCheat.sys
At this point, you must be wondering if Easy Anti Cheat is creating more problems for you instead of doing its job. Easy Anti-cheat is again the reason why Armored Core 6 is crashing at startup. Players can fix the crash by deleting the EasyAntiCheat.sys file. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\EasyAntiCheat and delete the EasyAntiCheat.sys file. Launch Armored Core 6 and it won’t crash.
Disable Overclock, Enable Debug Mode
If you have overclocked your GPU, it is the reason why Armored Core VI is crashing. Disable the overclock and revert the GPU back to its default GPU clocks and the issue will be fixed. In case your GPU is factory overclocked, enable Debug Mode through the Nvidia Control Panel to force the GPU to use reference clocks recommended by Nvidia. Open Nvidia Control Panel > Help > Debug Mode. This will fix the crashing issue with the game.
