Alan Wake 2 has finally launched for PC and consoles after over a decade following the first game’s release. The game has been received well by critics. But, PC users were skeptical about Alan Wake 2 after Remedy revealed system specs for it. Turns out, the game is very scalable and Remedy was playing very sage with the system requirements. However, PC users are experiencing the Authentication failed error when they launch Alan Wake 2 on PC. In Alan Wake 2 guide, I will list fixes that will help PC users fix the Menu Authentication Failed error.

Alan Wake 2 Menu Authentication Failed Fixes That’ll Help

Fans of Alan Wake 2 waited over a decade for its sequel to release. Reedy’s Control connected the games and its AWE expansion set up the events of Alan Wake 2. However, some PC players are unable to play the game as they are experiencing the “menu _ authentication_failed _ epic” error. The following are the fixes that will help PC users fix the error.

Disable RTSS

Some PC users report that if the MSI Afterburner or the RTSS overlay is enabled, they experience the “menu _ authentication_failed _ epic” error when they launch Alan Wake 2. Disable the RTSS Overlay or use the “Low Compatibility Mode” for the RTSS and the “menu _ authentication_failed _ epic” error will be fixed.

Disable In-Game Overlays

In-game overlays are useful as they allow PC users to access features without minimizing or quitting the game. However, in-game overlays can interfere with the game and cause it to crash. If you have enabled in-game overlays like Discord overlay or Geforce Experience overlay, it is the reason why Alan Wake 2 is crashing with the “menu _ authentication_failed _ epic” error. Disable the overlay and “menu _ authentication_failed _ epic” error will be fixed.

To disable the GeForce Experience overlay, open GeForce Experience> click on the Gear icon next to your username > General > turn off the “IN-GAME Overlay” options.

Click on the Gear icon next to your username
