While Assassin’s Creed Mirage isn’t as big as Valhalla, Ubisoft has been really generous with the amount of Gear Chests in Baghdad. There are a bunch of them you an find to get your hands on the best weapons and weapon upgrade schematics. Yes, Gear Chests in Assassin’s Creed (AC) Mirage not only offer weapons but upgrade schematics for them as well. During our testing so far, we have been unable to confirm if the loot is random or not but it seems to be, there are weird results but more on that some other time.
In this guide, I will take you through all Gear Chest locations and will explain how to access them in Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Gear Chests are available inside and outside Baghdad but some of them are tied to annoying little puzzle, just like Valhalla, which sometimes makes you want to quit the game. So to make life easier for you, here’s a complete breakdown of how to find and access every Gear Chest in AC Mirage.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage Gear Chest Locations And How To Access Them
Note: Before we start, note that Gear Chest are highlighted by a Golden Chest Icon on the world map. However, when you open a chest its icon is then replaced by crossing swords (kind of). In this guide, you will see that I had opened some Gear Chests already but I will still guide you through the process of accessing their location.
Gear Chest Location #1 – Dur-Kurigalzu, Wilderness
The first Gear Chest is in the Wilderness outside of Baghdad. The best time to access this chest is when you first arrive outside Baghdad but instead of going into the city with Roshan, head toward one of the two Synchronization Points out in the desert.
The Sync point is in the Aqarquf Dunes region of the Wilderness, located atop the Dur-Kurigalzu. Take a leap of faith from this Sync Point down into the cave where you will find a bandit camp underground. The process is pretty simple, clear out the bandit camp and at the end you will get the Gear Chest.
There are two sections of the bandit cave, one that you immediately encounter, and the next section that is behind a breakable wall. Once you clear the first section you’ll need to find an Oil Jar to through at the wall. The jar is behind an easily visible sliding rock that you can pull out to access the Oil Jar. Once you have the jar, simply throw it at the breakable wall to enter the second section of the bandit camp.
You will encounter an Armored Brute so keep in mind that you can only deal damage to an Armored Brute from behind. Dodge his attacks and then land your hits from behind. Once the second section is cleared, you can open the Gear Chest that’s is sitting right in the middle of the room, along with other goodies.

Tip: There is another chest behind the waterfall with some money inside.
Gear Chest Location #2 – Damascus Gate Prison, Harbiyah
The second chest is under the main stairs of the Damascus Gate Prison. The door is barred from the other side but you’ll notice that you can use a throwing knife from the opposite side of the room to break open the door. Go to the other side and throw knife at the barred door to open it.

Tip: You can across this prison during a main quest to free Ali. That’s the best time to get this gear chest off your list.
Gear Chest Location #3 – Khurasan Gate Guardhouse, Harbiyah
Another Gear Chest can be found in the Khurasan Gate Guardhouse. The Gear Chest is at the very top of the Guardhouse inside a caged off area that you need to access. Keep some throwing knives with you because it is impossible to access this Gear Chest without a throwable knife. The best way to reach this location is climbing the wooden structures located to the right side of the building.
Keep heading upward until you reach the roof. There are two guards that you need to deal with before you can access the Gear Chest. There are two shleves in the way, side by side. Push the left shelf forward to create an opening. Throw this opening throw a knife to break the pot on the other side.
Now, the right shelf is free to move so push it all the way to the other side. Hit B or Circle on your controller to slide in the opening to reach the Gear Chest.

Gear Chest Location #4 – Upper Harbor, Harbiyah
A Gear Chest can be found at the docks of Upper Harbor. This is the same area you visit during a main quest with Beshi where your objective to free some prisoners. The giant boat docked at the harbor has a Gear Chest that requires some maneuvering on your part. Push back the first shelf to enter the chest area and then push the same shelf all the way to the left. Now, to your write should be a set of wooden crates stacked on one another, jump over them to get to the other side.
The next step is to pull the shelf in front of you toward you all the way. This will create an opening behind the shelf. Now, jump back over the wooden crates and go go through the opening on the write, then to the left. There should be another shelf in front of you. Pull it all the way back to toward yourself.
Now we are going to go back to the first shelf we interacted with but we’ll interact with it by going through the new opening created behind the shelf we just pulled back. Gear Chest Location #5 – Prince’s Palace, Harbiyah
A chest is inside the Prince’s Palace in Harbiyah region of Baghdad. The chest is on the first floor guarded by a few guards outside the area but nothing you can’t handle. Keeping some throwing knives with you can come in handy while infiltrating the palace. When outside the palace, use your Eagle Vision to locate the chest and from there, how you approach it is up to you. It is really not that hard to get!

Gear Chest Location #6 – Soap Boiler’s District, Harbiyah
Soap Boiler’s District Gear Chest is another easy one to get. Travel opposite the Damascus Gate. The chest is inside a restricted area with plenty of armored enemies but it isn’t hard to get past them with a little bit of sneaking around.
The chest is in the middle of a restricted area on the first floor of a budling (as shown in the image above). There are enemy petrols so watch their pattern and wait for them to circle around to the other side of the building. Head inside, climb the ladder and you’ll find the Gear Chest.

Gear Chest Location #7 – The Four Markets, Abbasiyah
The Four Markets Gear Chest is the hardest one to get in Assassin’s Creed (AC) Mirage. The door is locked, the back wall is breakable but you can’t get to the Oil Jar in the next building because its door is also locked. So what’s the solution? If you climb up the Gear Chest building, you’ll notice that there is letter that explains that the person in charge of this area has left for The Four Markets to drink some tea.
This person has the key you need to unlock the door that leads to the Oil Jar, which then be used to blow up the back wall of the Gear Chest building. From the Gear Chest building, head northeast and keep your Eagle Vision active. You’ll soon find a person with the key icon on the first floor of a building near the tower.
Head inside, loot the key from him and come back to our main location. Use the key to open the building with the Oil Jar. Now take that Oil Jar and blow up the back wall of the Gear Chest building. However, before you go in, there is one more step. The Gear Chest is on the first floor but the access to it is blocked.
There is a window above the wall we just destroyed with Oil Jars. Through that Window, throw a knife at the Oil Jars inside to blow open the first floor. Now simply go inside, pull the shelf into position to climb up and get the Gear Chest.

Gear Chest Location #8 – Scholar’s Estate, Abbasiyah
Scholar’s Estate Gear Chest requires a key to unlock which is found inside a building on the Southeast corner to the Estate. Use the rooftops to reach the Southeast corner of the Estate and keep your Eagle Vision active to locate the key icon. They’ll be two guards outside the building, chatting, use a smoke bomb to Assassinate them both.
Sneak inside the building to get the key and then head north toward the Gear Chest. The building with the chest has a breakable window that can be used to sneak inside. Again, use your Eagle Vision to locate the breakable window, head inside and pull the big book shelf back to gain access to this Gear Chest in AC Mirage.

Gear Chest Location #9 – The Great Bimaristan, Abbasiyah
This chest is at the very top of The Great Bimaristan in Abbasiyah. It is inside a small room that can be accessed after using a throwing knife to unbar the door. The knife can be thrown from a window located on the back of the room.

Gear Chest Location #10 – The House of Wisdom, Abbasiyah
The House of Wisdom is located in Abbasiyah and it contains another chest. The chest is inside a room at the very top of the House of Wisdom. But you need a key to unlock the main door. The key can be looted from an NPCs on a seperate roof near the gear chest room. You can use Enkidu or your Eagle Vision to find the key person.
Once you have the key, unlock the door but to get to upper deck of the room where the gear chest is, you need to head outside the room, climb up the building (not all the way up), and hit the chandelier with a throwing knife clear a path to the gear chest.
Now you can head back and access the chest through the opening in the cieling.

Gear Chest Location #11 – Monastery of the Virgins, Karkh
This the easiest Gear Chest you can find in Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Simply go to the Monastery of the Virgins in Karkh, use your Eagle Vision to find and mark the Gear Chest if it’s not already visible on the map, sneak inside (very few enemies in the area), and get the chest from a room on the ground floor. There are not puzzles, no hidden paths, the gear chest is just sitting out in the open.

Gear Chest Location #12 – The Great Garrison, Karkh
Finding this chest isn’t hard, getting to it is because the are plenty of enemies in this area. There is restricted to civilians and Assassins like Basim.
You can sneak inside the Garrison by using a crack in the wall near the chest location. I recommend keeping a healthy amount of smoke bombs as they allow you to sneak past enemies which otherwise be really tough. As for the crack in the wall that you can use to get inside, here’s its exact location:
After you enter throwing the crack, start heading left toward the gear chest, sneaking past enemies in the area. Some of them you can eliminate but others should be smoke bombed to avoid an all out fight. Keep moving toward the left and you will see wooden ladder that you can use to climb up the Garrison wall. The ladder is past the chest location so now you would be heading back toward the gear chest as move on the Garrison Wall.
The chest is inside the a room blocked by shelf. Push it to the side (break the pot next to it first) and as you head inside, a brute enemy appears. Again, you can smoke him and then assassinate or get into a fight. Deal with him however you like and then the chest is all yours.

Gear Chest Location #13 – Collector’s Mansion, Karkh
The Collector’s Mansion is in Karkh where a Gear Chest is waiting for you. You don’t need any keys or solve any puzzles to get it. All you have to do is sneak inside, and use the right balcony door to enter the gear chest room.

Gear Chest Location #14 – Officers’ Club, Karkh
The Officers’ Club is a highly guarded area that you need to sneak into. The chest is out in the open, guarded by two guards. It is easy to find if you use Enkidu to scan the area. Sneak inside, kill the two guards to access the chest.

Gear Chest Location #15 – Qasr Salih, Karkh
Qasr Salih is another Garrison type location where a ton of enemies are present but I can help you sneak inside. Make sure you have a few smoke bombs with you to blind enemies standing at the gates. The Gear chest is at the very top of the Qasr but the door is locked.
There is a section you can blow up at the top of Gear Chest room which gives access to the gear chest. Outside the door of the gear chest room there is an Oil Jar that you can carry all the way up from the side (wooden platforms) and then use the jar to blow open the roof.

Gear Chest Location #16 – Shurta Headquarters, Round City
There is a chest in the highly guarded Shurta Headquarters in Round City. The best way to get this chest is to create diversion by sneaking inside and then freeing the prisoners who’ll start a riot.
You can use a smoke bomb to blind the enemies and sneak inside from the main gate. Head right and use Eagle Vision to guide yourself to the prisoners (marked in blue). Open the their cages and then you’re good to go. You don’t have to worry about the guards anymore.
The gear chest we are looking for is at the roof of the Shurta HQ. Keep in mind that the guards on the roof aren’t part of the riot and for them its business as usual so you’ll have deal with them or sneak past them. You can reach the roof by climbing out the window on the first floor and then heading upward.
The gear chest area is guarded by an armored enemy so you’ll have to use a Smoke Bomb to assassinate him. Get the chest and get out!

Gear Chest Location #17 – Al Jahiz’s House, Round City
Al Jahiz’s House in Round City is hiding another Gear Chest in Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Climb up the roof of the house and pick up the Oil Jar. You should notice some moveable shelves near the Oil Jars. Move both of them all the way to the left, next to the plants. Pick up the jar and use the shelves to reach the upper section of the roof.
To your left is a rope that is leads to another roof with a breakable ceiling. Blow up the ceiling with the oil jar to access Al Jahiz’s House. The gear chest you’re looking for is on the ground floor of the house.

Gear Chest Location #18 – Wilderness
Among the multiple Gear Chests in the Wilderness, one is located near the Winter Palace of Anbar. It is right outside the Winter Palace, near the beech. Check inside a guard tower. No key is require nor any puzzle solutions.

Gear Chest Location #19 – Water Mill, Wilderness
There is a chest in the Water Mill area of the Wilderness. Use Eagle Vision to mark the Gear Chest on your map if it wasn’t visible already. Keep in Eagle Vision mode to find the key for the locked chest. The chest key is at the bottom of a body of water which you should be able to find easily.
Take the key and head toward the chest but you’ll need to pull out a shelf to enter the area. Use the key to unlock the chest and you’re good to go.

Gear Chest Location #20 – Abandoned Caravanserai, Wilderness
Abandoned Caravanserai is a ruin at the edge of the Wilderness West. Here’s its location on the map:
Inside the Abandoned Caravanserai you will find bandit camp setup with a couple of enemies you should eliminate. To the right of the main entrance are Oil Jars and a moveable shelf. Push the shelf close to the above rope that leads to the upper section of Abandoned Caravanserai.
Pick up the Oil Jar and climb the shelf then jump on the rope to get to the other side. Head straight and then down to the back of the Abandoned Caravanserai. There is a breakable wall that can be blown open to access the Gear Chest.

Gear Chest Location #21 – Southern Camp, Wilderness
Another chest is found at the edge of the Wilderness right outside Baghdad. I went with brute force rout with this chest so that’s what I will recommend. Walk right in the main entrance and turn left, the gear chest is behind the building to your right. Slay all enemies that come for you. I suggest reading up on my parrying guide to perfect your parry in Assassin’s Creed Mirage. It’ll help you deal with enemies much faster in any area, including this one.
